Not sure how many of you had the chance to pickup the August issue of Car Magazine, but there was some interesting stuff there about Audi's future plans. All dates shown below are for UK releases, since the magazine is based there. Usually the USA gets a hold of things about 6-12 months later, when AoA decides whether we are getting things or not.

Here are the highlights:

A8
1. A8 Sportback is due out in 2006. Huge mother of an avant!!! Not sure it will make it to the USA though, but Audi is thinking that 3500 of them will find a happy home. Based on A8L and tail is rounder and sloping. Only two gasoline engines to be offered, but no details on which. My take is on a V8 and a W12.
2. S8 should be good for 420HP out of detuned V10 from Gallardo.
3. RS8 (God I had no idea there was plans for such a thing) is probably going to be out in 2008, making 500HP out the door, using a bi-turbo version of the 6.0L W12. Imagine that!!!

A6
1. S6 is expected about mid-2006. It will use the same engine stats as the S8.
2. RS6 plans start terrorizing neighborhoods around mid-2007. According to the magazine folks, Audi is sticking to a bi-turbo V8. Further fine-cooling-tuned to pack 500HP.
3. A6 Avant expected at beginning of 2005. A couple of cool new features, most notably a remote tailgate opening.

A4
1. A4 is going to go through a make over, to get the nose job already being introduced in the middle brother. Some interior changes, includes MMI. Displacement for the 4-banger will go to 2.0L, still maintaining it turbocharged.
2. S4 keeps the V8...duh!. I assume it will also get a nose job!
3. RS4 is expected to be available to unload your wallet around mid-2005. Engine is expected to pack a tweaked engine good for 420HP. Not bad from a V8. Not sure if it's turbocharged or not, but I'd go with YES!. The RS4 Avant will follow at end-of-2005.

One thing that comes to mind is that there is a push to offer the RS releases in Saloon versions as well.
It is expected that S and RS models will be available earlier then before, since it is expected to be ready within 2 years of the initial launch. With previous models, these nice vehicles ended up being ready when the model was about to be retired. Nice change.

That is all I could find. Enjoy!

Great information - thanks! :thumb:

It's interesting to see how similar the A8 avant is to the old '84 - '91 Audi 100 Avant, body-wise.

It does sound like rumors as far as the engines are concerned though, with the S6 being a V10 and the RS6 being a V8... Doesn't quite add up.
