Must be a good reason as Audi never seems to voluntarily reccommend anything that costs them more.. Wonder what they found? Any guesses??

If you look in the service manual under the 15000 mile service listing, spark plugs is there!

I was surprised also since typicallly change them at 50,000 or so.....the newer plugs are pretty reliable for many miles.

They must have some reason, would be nice to know for sure, perhaps added heat in combustion chamber due to turbo!

When I took my Beast in for the 5K service they (dealer) didn't even know about the spark plug change for the 15K (never got the info from AOA). I had to show them in the manual.

Hi Benman!

I guess the question really is, Why do they feel it necessary to replace the plugs after only 15k? And does this mean they need to be done every 15k? If not, why not?

that's actually a very good question!

I am going to grab my manual and look. I thought that every 15,000.......that would be a lot of plugs...

Hello Hy Octane:D

That's nothing. Have you ever spoke with someone who owns a Ferrari. The maitenance on those make the RS 6 look like a joke. Heck at 15,000 miles you have to practically overhaul the entire engine on those things:bigeyes:   (and it's NOT cheap).

Sometimes very High Power vehicles require very Hi Po service.

In the manual there is more for the RS6 at 15000 miles.

Clean and check all hoses
replace fuel filter

and i think one of the services you replace the hose

I'm looking the service manual (Euro version) :

1. oil (w/filter) every 15000 km or 12 months whichever comes first
2. every 30000 km:
- sparkplugs
- timing belt inspection for wear and tear
- air and polen filters
- and the usual
3. every 60000 km
- 15+30k servis + timing belt replacement

The manual states that the spark plugs must be changed at the 15K mile service regardless. Not sure why though. I must inquire.

I took my car for the 15K mile service in the Spring, and the print out of the work done states that they did change the spark plugs.
