A long time ago, Audi decided to experiment with non-ferrous brake rotors. This is part of that research.

If you look closely, you will see that the composite rotor is still mounted on a heavy hat (bell), negating some of the benefits. In the real world, the benefits are beginning to look more and more like savings in unsprung weight and less and less like improved braking performance.
