:rs6kiss: :race:
Today at the track my beast started with a roar lots of power after 4 laps in 110 F weather it just started slowing down from 120Mph down the straight on lap 2 to 98 mph on lap 5
temp went up to 3/4 and oil over 250 F.
Ran with the 996 turbos for 3 laps then I just had to slow down. Has any one raced the beast in hot and humid weather. :race: :addict: :addict: :addict: :vgrumpy:

Were you paddle/Tip shifting or in Sport mode?

I have found that in S mode, the program is a little too aggressive for hot weather track use and when the oil temp reaches 275 deg.+ the car goes completely limp. But if I paddle shift and don't wring the car out too much, I can keep oil temp at 250 deg. and all is fine. Now, this has worked for 90 deg ambient air temp, I don't if this will do much good for your lovely summer Caribbean clime of 110 deg. and 100000000% humidity. ;)

I agree with ICONLS. Recommend using TIP mode and short shifting. Give yourself about a 5700 rpm or less red line when on the track in hot weather. Using this technique has allowed me to keep oil temp less than or equal to 250F and water temp with needle straight up or less than one needle width hotter than that.

And BTW....be sure to allow a cool down period to let the temps come down to near normal operating temps BEFORE turning off the engine.

The RS6 has built it "protection" for high temperature, designed to reduce power as the temperature of either the oil or the coolant, go up.

The first power reduction comes when the engine oil reaches 95 DC (203F).

Summer is the worse time to track an RS6.

Well, I noticed the other day driving in Palmdale the outside temp was 107f.. I was driving agressively and when I downshifted to 2nd for some turns, the motor pulled strong at first then it suddenly eased up some, like the boost was cut back.. I looked at the temp gauge and it was probably at 240f.. Now, the weird part is that when the car is at normal running temp, the oil stays at 210f or so under norrmal driving .. So, if what you say is true, then my motor is operating daily with a power cut at 203f which is below its normal operating temp. How can this be?

I'm not sure if this is true - during extended runs on the a-bahn the oil temperature certainly gets up over 95c and stays there. No power reduction thou ....

the ambient is certainly lower than FL ..... by at least 20 F .....

The first reduction of power above 95 DC is not very noticeable unless your car in on a dynamometer.

After that they are more safety (for the engine) orientated protections, but I dunno at which point they are exactly, but at and above 120 DC (248 F) I can feel a strong loss of power and poor throttle response.

Sorry, Private message, it is a feature that you can access throuh the user cp button at the top of the page. Sent you the PM because the question was a little off topic.
