Hello, this is my first posting in the rs6.com discussion forum, and i want to start my "career" here with an article that is not going to be loved ...

:w:

... just found it on the web.

sorry for my bad english, i hope the meaning of my translation is clear:

"aquaplaning on the highway slip road"
the undoing of a 37 years old men from Rankweil, Austria was a heavy rainshower on Friday morning. The driver of the hp - heavy (Horsepower!) Audi RS 4 wanted to drive on the highway A14 in Rankweil.

Because there was a truck on the right lane, he wanted to pass him on the acceleration lane and he was accelerating very fast.
At this moment he didn't see the water standing on the road - aquaplaning. The car crashed into the crash barrier and was totally damaged. The driver was not injured, thanks to the Airbags.

Here i found some pictures on the web, all copyrights are at www.vol.at:

well i guess no matter how good or how safe the car is.. it still cant prevent driver error from happening.. it's a good thing the driver survived.. shows how safe the audi platforms are... i bet if it wer an Evo or an Sti or an SRT-4 the driver would not make it out alive...

yes and the real "miracle" is that he survived without being injured. as they say, the airbags prevented worse.

A friend of mine is living in a city near Rankweil and he's a fire fighter. maybe he can gimme some more information and pics, gonna ask him this weekend.

but as you say: he wouldn't had survived it in another car...
I disagree with this statement, almost every company did so much for safety in the last 10 years, the "surviving a crash" chances are gettin' better and better ... but as you already said, theres always the "human factor".

Thanks audifreak and welcome!

Aquaplaning can happen the best. When it rains one better make sure the speed is not higher than the tires can handle.

Audifreak:cheers:

A waste of a great car. At least the driver was OK.

yeah, thx for the nice welcome :)

the aquaplaning happened to me also last week, I could hardly keep control over the car, and i wasn't that fast at all, 'bout 90 km/h.

well actually i am driving a lot (bout 60 000 km/y) and i hope to be able to handle aquaplaning a little bit better than the guy in the rs4. But as you already said: can happen to any1 of us!

:wo: :addict: :wo:

^^ just found out there are amazing smileys on the board :)
