Stuart made me aware last week.. I hadn't received the letter till yesterday..

Problem:
"Audi has found that, under rare circumstances, physical contact of a left driver's side dashboard structure element could cause abeasion of a wiring harness resulting in a electrical short, which if that occurs could result in a fire originating in the left dashboard area." straight out of the horses mouth(audi)

according to audi, service to fix the problem should take no more than 1.5 hrs....

get those beast in the shop.

Just got a pm from jimmy. Seems some of us got the letter, others still in the mail. Got mine last night as well. Will be bringing the Beast in on the 16th. I doubt it will be a big deal but if it does catch on fire before then I guess Walters Audi will get me a new one:D

I am 900 miles away from my 25,000 service so they said lets do it all at the same time. If I burn up tell my wife I love her. :D Until then I am going to do like the bumper sticker I saw and "Drive it Like I stole it"

Is this a dashboard-out job?

great question.

Is this 'repair very invasive? I don't want to inherit a bad rattle after a repair...

Anyone who has it done, please post details and if possible pictures.

Thanks,

Mike

It happens that I have a slight rattle from before (not big) so I'll be using this as an oppertunity to fix while car is in service. If one should arise after the fact it would be covered under warranty although it's an inconvienance to take the Beast in twice.
