115 mph!!! UGH. I always dread getting caught going that fast (or...).

Not to mention the big bag of money you're going to have to pay, in CA do you have to go to court at that speed & what's the effect on your license?

What's the fastest anyone has gotten ticketed or pulled over for and what were the consequences (with the law as well as with the spouse or significant other LOL)?

My condolences.

that is in US and most likely in most of the western part of Europe - in the wild East the radio does not work too well (French technology ....) so they setup a radar and road blocks 2 km down the road ....

I was clocked doing 125 in a '91 Mustang when I was 18. I say clocked because I was written up for 75 in a 55 the tropper knew my girlfriend's dad who I was going to see and also I stopped right beside him and he did not have to even move ( I had a passport radar detector and the instant on along a deserted stretch of road got me) so I knew it and just pulled over. I later foun out he was a friend of a friend and the ticket was dropped all together. My parents were shocked.

Just Kidding...I know Arnold would approve though LOL..

You must have had a real sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when you saw the lights! I feel for you..

That really sucks, sorry to hear it. I got a 115mph ticket about 11yrs ago in my 84 4000 quattro and yes that is the MAX speed for the car. Redline in 5th @ 115mph....how things have chnaged:hahahehe: . Got the ticket, tried to fight it and lost:vgrumpy:

Hope it all works out for you and on another note, I sometimes think my V1 gives me a false sense of security, does not get the planes:D

I thought over 100 in CA they booked you for reckless driving? Not true? I pegged 135MPH early
(read VERY early) yesterday morning. Rock solid. I love the RS6.

My experience with V1 is this: sometimes it doesn't give you much warning. I try to keep my speed with in a reasonable non-ticketable range. I don't entirely trust radar detection due to instant on and laser here in my area.

My best speeding story: I passed a woman poking along on a small 2-lane highway. I was pulled over at 75 mph in a 35 mph zone while passing on a curve in a no-passing zone. The cop pulled me over on a straightaway, but he was standing out in the middle of my lane. When he got to the car, I asked if he wanted to pull up farther on the road so we could pull over so he wasn't in the middle of it. That saved my a**. He threatened me with the speeding ticket, passing in the no-passing AND reckless driving which was a required court appearance and a possible loss of license. After he checked out my license, registration, etc., he only gave me a ticket for passing in a no passing zone.

I got a ticket for 108 in a 40 when i was 20. That was a mess as you could imagine. No Insurace, No valid plates, No Motorcycle endorsement on my license. They couldn't figure out what to do with me. So they just gave me a ticket for speeding and impounded the bike. Got it out the next day. Since then try to do things on the straight and narrow.:hahahehe:

I've got one couple years ago on restricted part of bahn - got pulled over:

"what did I do, sir?"

"oh, you would never guess, mr ...."

"I surely did not go too fast did I?"

"oh no, no .... you just flew too low, sir ..."

clocked at 130 km/h zone doing 249 km/h (about 155 mph at 80 mile zone)... ended up paying equivalent of about $62 on spot and thanked God for my luck.

I had been researching Valentine 1 vs. new Escort model for about $100 less, with the reviews seeming to indicate similar performance. I was getting ready to pull the trigger, but now you've made me pause. It would be helpful to know how you got caught if the V1 never activated.

About 10 years ago I was clocked at 105 in my M6 sweeping on to Hwy 1 near Monterey early one morning, caught by radar trap. Ticket in CA is a 2 pointer on the license, mandatory court appearance, and possible license supspension if the judge doesn't like you. $350 fine at that time in Salinas court. They can consider this reckless driving and jail you at the time, and that is the same reason they can pull your license. If you get caught, try to talk the CHP into 95 mph!

I was doing 80 through a new neighborhood under construction in northern Virginia. You know - they put the roads in before the make the houses. There were no speed limit signs ( national speed limit was 55 then ), or other cars and I was "exercising" my Z-28. The guy was on foot in the middle of the road over the crest of a hill. It was all I could do to miss him and slide to a stop down the hill. He ran up to my car and I was sure he was going to haul me out and arrest me - I was 17. He was stammering about what great car control, nice stop, what year is your Z-28 etc. Turns out he did not know what to charge me with and let me go.

After a change of pants .... I went on my merry way.

I had just broken in my Suzuki GSX-R750 and was racing up a mountain road. I know I entered the sweeper doing about 80, I have no idea how fast I was going when I came out. I look ahead and see a state trooper. I immediately hit the brakes and pulled over. He turned on his lights, crossed the freeway, and pulled up behind me. He said by the time he had the radar trigger pulled, I was doing about 20 MPH, but my headlights had disappeared from view. He then asked if I wanted either a ticket or a lecture.
I took the lecture.

audirs6sport,
You did not say how you got caught. If the cops used Vascar (basically electrical timing) or overhead plane/helicopter then the V1 would not go off. Important to know what happened. Others on this board and I know on the M5board have had great success with the V1. I do not drive without my V1.
Also, if you were doing 115 then if the cops used Instant On you would have been caught no matter what detector you used.

Its very posiible the cop was turning on the radar on/off thats probably the reason youre V1 didnt pick up. I wouldnt blame the V1

OK, think of all the times your detector has saved your ass, and then ask if it's really a POS.

Here in Canada, the law takes a similarly dim view on speeding as in the States, bizarre given the many straight, empty roads and wide open spaces. My biggest save was about 5 years ago in my chipped Passat 1.8T - I was maxed out (about 235 km/h) on one of my favourite backroads, approaching the crest of a hill, when my instant-on warning went off. I crested the hill under full ABS braking, and there was the cop by the side of the road. I cruised past him at the speed limit (80 km/h) and he never came after me. Thank God for my detector!

for me, it never saved me from any other case because most of the time, it was false alarm, and I usually don't go 100+ on everyday basis or speed at all.

The first week I had my Valentine 1, I got nailed by laser on I-87 North (the Northway) just south of Lake George. I was on my way skiing in the far left hand lane doing 82 feeling undetectable. A young woman was passing me in the far right hand lane going only slightly faster. When the cop pulled out, I thought he was going after her. Boy was I surprised when he pulled up behind me. I didn't have time to pull the V1 off the windshield. When he saw it he asked if it detected laser. Needless to say, he showed me no mercy. I was so pissed off I didn't go skiing. A quick call to my local attorney and it was taken care of. Unfortunately, I had to waste a Saturday going to a safe driving school as part of the settlement (it wasn't my first or second infraction).

Needless to say, the V1 has saved me many times since.

yeap. your best bet out of a ticket is just to fight it! hire an attorney; if you can afford an rs6, you definetely could afford a liar. the freakin cop kinda gave me an attitude, and also asking me if i stole the vehicle (they always ask me this). i guess it's weird for them to see a 19 year old driving an rs6. this is my first time ever getting pulled over for speeding at all so i am hoping to see some good outcomes. wish my attorney and I good luck :)`:addict: :addict: :addict: :rs6kiss:

all very intressting stories,
but I must reply:
all you people are VERY lucky not to live in BELGIUM!
you get 'just' a ticket, from what I read here, for going 100+mph...
here in belgium you're ticketed for a price between $300 and $2500, and you lose your driving license for AT LEAST 3 MONTHS.
...
I wish I didn't live here...

well, just wanted to make you all feel a bit better...
and myself a bit mor sad...:vgrumpy:

Stu, this quite resembles Summersville, WV (nicknamed Ticketville - on Rt. 19, 4 lane shortcut between I-79 and I-77) - you will get speeding ticket for 52 in 50, specially with out-of-state plates and you will be offered website link where you can, at additional charge (I think it is extra $40), take a defense driving course right on that website - in exchange they will not report the ticket any further ....

Average cost $170+/ticket...

The only ticket this beast has gotten was 20 minutes after my dad bought it for 18 over. telling an officer, who makes 30,000 a year that you just bought an 80,000 dollar car 20 minutes ago doesn't go over too well.

Luckily i havent been caught in the RS6 yet. I know it will happen sooner or later. one night around 4 AM i pulled on the interstate. looked behind me, no headlights. looked infront of me, no tail lights. so i decided to push her to what she would do. turns out there isn't a govener on ours. it should only go to 155 mph but she hit 160. :rs6kiss:

There is a speed limiter, what you experienced was indicated speedometer error. You won't go over 155, speedos usually register higher than actual speed incrimentally as you go faster.

I think you will find the speed governor going off at 175 mph (280 kmph) ...

At least that's where it is set in Europe and the setting appears to be same for US.

gg UK Car Magazine when listing RS6 in its top 100 cars of all time collection, mentioned that it liked the permissive speed limiter that nobody in the office could seem to find, that audi "insists is there".

the only jammers that work ok are some of the laser jammers.

if you've got a jamming box big enough to screw with radar you're probably breaking the law in most states, and in the UK as well.

Mike,

The charge was reduced to "Parking on the Pavement" a no-point offense. I suspect when a judge reviews the record, he sees the speeding ticket reduced to a no point offense. Since this was my second such reduction in about 6 months, he probably ordered the safe driving school attendence as part of the settlement.

Active radar transmitter (jammer is in that category) falls under FCC rules - penalty could by up to 10 years in jail and/or $10k per violation........

Passive radar "jammer" is illusion and nice money maker - unfortunately people still believe fairy tails.

Laser in US is not regulated by FCC
