The only team I know that makes great auto transmission conversions, meaning a stronger torque converter among other things, are the folks at LevelTen (http://www.levelten.com/) .

They do a kick ass transmission conversion for the B5 S4 that is capable of handling something like 600ft/lb.
Call them or contact them about this. I was thinking of doing the same, but since I'm not interested yet, I figured I'd wait.

Post any information you can get from them on power handling, and price

These are businesses in the US that modify torque converter and valve bodies for the 2.7t Tip transmission.

The valve body mod adds more line pressure to add more holding force to the clutch and brake packs inside of the transmission.

The torque converter mod can be a couple of things:
change in stall speed
change the problematic torque converter seal
change in torque multiplication
