I can't seem to find an aluminum floor jack that is rated for any more than 2 tons, or 4000 lbs. I already have a 3 ton hydraulic jack for the home, but I was hoping to find a lightweight racing jack for the track. Since the RS6 tips the scales at a shade over 4200 lbs, I seem to be out of luck. Do you guys lug your steel floor jacks out to the track? I cringe at the thought of that. Please tell me that a 2.5 ton aluminum racing jack exists!!

I've been considering this myself, I've found this one at 60lbs.:

2.5 Ton Al and Steel Floor Jack (http://www2.northerntool.com/product/200221974/)

And this one rated at 3000 lbs. and weighing 44 lbs. I don't think you quite need a 2 ton rating because your not picking up the whole car at any given time. However this one costs substantially more:

3000 lbs. Al Jack (http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=6970&langId=-1&catalogId=4006970&PHOTOS=on&productId=47685&categoryId=0)

If that is the case, then I did find an aluminum racing jack that has a 4000 lbs lifting capacity. I originally ruled it out since the RS6 weighs over 4200 lbs. It only weighs 38 lbs! :thumb:

So do you think this one is adequate for lifting up one wheel and then using a jack stand?

The North East Quattro Club driving schools are 2-day events and I envision needing to change brake pads over the course of an event someday. Taking my 3-ton Lincoln jack to the track is not an option since I don't even think I can fit it in the trunk, not to mention pick it up.

I would think so, but I would like to hear a real track dog weigh-in on this; anyone care to comment?

BTW, good find on the jack.

The total car weighs 2 Tons. At best, you can only jack up 1/2 that weight.
I've seen add for 2 ton "racing jacks" in our local Kragen Auto adds and Pep Boys. A number of Audi Club members here in N. Calif. have purchased one of the following Aluminum racing jacks:
