I have been debating the V1 stealth install to the k40. If heard the v1 is probablly better, but does anyone have any k40 experience to say whether it is withing the margin of acceptable (I prefer the complete hidden install that the k40 offers and I'm willing to accept slightly less performance, but not "no performance). thoughts?

I don't pretend to know much about this. I asked the dealer I just bought my car at about the K40 and they said they don't really advise anymore because they have had electrical problems with the install and the installer and the dealer have been bickering over what caused the probs..

Anybody else had problems with K40 installs? I'd like to do something, but that has scared me for now till I know the real deal.

I have the "stealth-install" front and rear K40 system. I have no question but that it works; e.g., is effective. Additionally, I have had no electrical problems with anything relating to the car. I haven't heard that others have, either.

Okay, we'll like I said.. I don't know.. It's just what the folks at Clair Audi told me the other day. Perhaps it's a problem with their shop the outsource the installation too..... Or maybe it's not a problem at all, but I'd be shocked that they'd not want to sell me the solution unless they had a real problem....

I also have the K40 and no problems, love the in-dash install. I have never had a V1 but the k40 has worked and saved me plenty of times. No complaints.

I have had both the K40 stealth install and the V1 not to mention a number of Escort units. I currently have the K40 installed in both my Porsche and Audi's and have to say that it's a great seamless system. The V1 may be a "slightly" better detector (if at all), but the bottom line is that it is not stealth (no matter how you install it) and the cost of doing a custom install with the V1 is not worth the slight possible benefit. The K40 system has always done a great job for me and keeping the integrity of my cars intact is also a good reason to choose this system. As for electrical problems...I have been using K40 for 10 years and not a blip.

You seem pretty happy with your k40 configuration. Went to the website and there are several configurations... care to share the details (specifics) of what components you have?

I'd like to get a high end solution and this sounds pretty much like the best ..
