View Full Version : The world is a dangerous place without quattro (and a little ESP)

Yesterday was the very first opportunity i had to take the Beast up to local moutains for some snow drifting action. The car performed a lot better than i was expecting considering that they were requiring chains (and i was on my P Zero Rossas!). It was simply priceless to see an M5 up there on the side of the road helpless and to watch another BMW turn around with his tail between his legs heading back home (no chains, no 4 wheel drive, no go!)

With the ESP off you could get some really great 4 wheel drifts (after all the PZero sumer tires don't give the best snow traction!). All and all i came away very impressed with our Beast.

The dangerous part was this morning i decided to wake up early and go out for a quattro drive in the pouring rain. Not 5 minutes into the drive and there was a Cavalier facing the wrong direction on the freeway with the guy that hit him (Mercedes) @ 20 feet away (bad accident). After a spirited drive on some back roads i headed back home on the freeway. I was curious to see if the accident had been cleared and sure enough ANOTHER accident had occured! This one involving a Dodge truck that had somehow managed to go up onto the barrier! Just 2 miles on and ANOTHER accident involving and SUV (wow, what a surprise!). All three accident were really bad with all vehicles involved looking like totals.

My point of all this babble is that all of us RS 6 owners have a Beast that is both safe and secure at the same time. It may not be "the ultimate drivers car" but i wouldn.t trade it for anything (well maybe the Le Mans).

NEVER EVER forget that with P Zeros or similar your stopping ability is just as bad as anyone else's.

Check here for more drifting:

Looks nice, but doesn't help traction much :vhmmm:

I know the feeling. Was tooling home yesterday with the kids we had the car moving a long and the tunes cranked.

It's a fun and ver capable car. I plan on keeping mine for a long time. The car fits what I was looking for.
