Been thinking long and hard about this, the car is perfectly sorted out so it will be difficult to do. I just picked up a CPO 2012 911 Turbo S and will not have storage space for the RS6 unless I can work something out with local storage facilities (enclosed storage is $375/month in NY). I don't want to leave the RS6 sitting outside in the elements so I am thinking letting it go through consignment. I know the market is soft right now but I am hoping for something in the $22 - $23k range based on the condition of the car. Would be great to hear thoughts from you guys.

Attached is a description of the car with some photos, I have more detailed description and photos. I will getting professional photographs taken including the underside of the car, and maybe even put it up on BAT. I am planning to sell the car with stock Euro 19s (has Winter Pirelli SottoZeros though) and selling the 3 piece OZ summer wheels separately.

The car looks really nice, and it shows a very high level of care and maintenance, which is critical for these cars. I think you are going to dinged on the timing belt. I know it's still within the mileage range, but it's getting close, and it's been 5 years, so I think it's technically still due. People with try to knock you down a grand or two on that. I would consider getting it done so you can advertise the car as "Needs nothing, ready to drive and enjoy".

Thank you...Yes was thinking of having it done when I did the VC gaskets but visual inspection showed it was good. I know some folks don't strictly adhere to the 35K miles/5yrs thing based on usage and environment

Sad to see it go but hopefully it finds another great home. I've seen this car in person just a couple of weeks ago, and it looks and sounds great. Let's see if it can find another lucky owner that knows how to care for it as you've done. Good luck with sale.... and congrats on the Porsche.

Dave and I have been communicating on this....he does longer intervals based on usage, environment, conditions etc. Always with visual inspection of course

Beautiful car, love the euro headlights. As mentioned above, you will be dinged for that timing belt for sure but the car is worth it, just not sure that people are willing to pay that much in this market. In a few years, i'm sure it would sell for this but again, storage and keeping it if you can't is just not possible sometimes. Good luck with the sale!

Belt was inspected ..no sign of any wear , car driven less than 5k miles a year and kept in climate controlled garage.

I run timing belt intervals longer. Much longer

5/35 is a joke

Ok so what kind of intervals are we talking here gentlemen. 50-60-90 k. I’m in the same boat as Dave 5K a year and climate controlled garage. Well at least heated during the winter months and the car hibernates all winter with monthly oil warm up rides on dry roads. Dave you don’t worry about that dry 8 percent humidity Arizona air drying stuff up?

Keep in mind, that you're putting those rare turbo 5v heads at risk.
5y/35k is a sane enough interval. You can delay the replacement, if you have to - but read above.
I wouldn't push it past 50k miles. Age - less critical in my book, but be sure to regularly check for any signs of drying out (cracks etc).

My understanding is the interval might be related to the bearings. Those belts should not wear significantly faster than other cars, but the guide rollers are stupidly small. You could probably run the belt a long time if you could inspect the rollers regularly, but by the time you tear it all down to inspect, you might as well replace them and the belt.

Mine is 26k after 5.5 years and belt looks new

For me sticking with the 35000 interval is fine. In my case every 7 years isn’t asking too much.

Hey wait a second. We got way of topic. Cmnair what did you decide to do with the car? Sell or hold?

Put it up on FB marketplace and waiting for a KBB inspection tomorrow. I thought I would try the forums and then maybe put it up for consignment. In the meantime she is slumbering in the garage on a Ctek

BAT can be a decent option sometimes. Depends on the car and how many “experts” you get bashing this or that about the car. Plus after the auction closes you need weeks of therapy to get over all the people bashing every little thing that’s not right. Not so bad on the Audi Crowd but man the Porsche guys can be brutal. I’ve been toying with moving up the 911 food chain and selling my 88 Carrera and getting a 2013-17 4S. It usually passes after I drive mine but then a week later I’ll see a 2015 5S and think man I need one of those too. But like you space is limited.

Nice that vintage Carrera was great. You will find some great deals on early 991.2 Carreras now...of course it's all relative with Porsche.

There is an FB group 'C5 Elite' that you can try and join and maybe also find someone that loves the C5 platform and be interested in your car.

Cmnair
June 16th, 2020, 19:21
Thanks yes I am on a couple of C5 specific FB groups and posted in one of them. Unfortunately this car does not have the rabid following among Audi guys that the E39 M5 has among BMW enthusiasts

Slightly old thread bump, but did your car sell Cmnair? And if so, what did you get (if you don't mind sharing)?

Slightly old thread bump, but did your car sell Cmnair? And if so, what did you get (if you don't mind sharing)?...I put it up on Autotrader around late June and it sold early August to a fellow enthusiast. He was a sales manager at an Audi dealership in NJ. Damn I miss that car.
pmed you...
