Just wondering if anybody knows the function of this little brown
box ? There are two of them in the engine compartment,
one on each front on top of the cylinder banks.
It is somewhat hidden under the wiring under the intake box.
Brown wire from the loom, brown color, with the other side mounted
to a small stud (looks like a ground ?).
Google and Audi dealers clueless, also nu luck from BERU
website.
Thanks for any info,
Ivan

Are we talking about a C5 RS6? Most likely a Capacitor/Noise/EMI filter?

Capacitors, yes. ELSA calls them "Distributor Ignition (DI) Capacitor".

Found Mouse nest under intake,

Does it just have the part # on it or does it show a 'uf'? Here is a Ebay one but different MicroFarad https://www.ebay.com/itm/BERU-4-7-F-noise-dampener-capacitor-Audi-0310025017-0310025015-4-7-F-110V/222311999294?epid=2038092896&hash=item33c2d3e73e:g:xCQAAOSwo4pYJhHU:rk:22:pf:0
Wrecking yard would be best. For now the car should run fine without it. Might get some feedback through the speakers.

Closest I could find out of the Audi catalog for the RS6. https://genuineaudiparts.com/parts/index.cfm?make=Audi&year=&model=&searchText=031025021&action=oePartSearch&siteid=214407

Thanks,
they seem to be very close in spec.
The BERU # ... is on the body.
Brown wire in, brown colored body.
Both are still hookedup,
one has a minor wiring blemish near its body,
so sauter is not an option.
