I saw that, and I think the most interesting statement was this:

On last month's Ferrari supercar test in wet Wales the Audi was just about the quickest car there.

this was a test of the Ferrari 288GTO, F40, F50 and Enzo. The article really makes clear the RS6's best asset which is the useability of its performance in normal road conditions

Do you guys remember what a luke-warm report they gave the RS6 in 2002....

Well it took them 17 months to "see the light" Some people are get it slower than others :D

Really good article, quite objective which is nice to see!

I like that the journalist looks at the entire car. Yes, it's not the greatest, tightest, stiffest car on a back road and no it doesn't give you much information back through the steering about the road you're on but when you add up the sum of the car, what it does do well, it does in incredible fashion!

Also, nice to see a long-term test car that was obvioulsy "ridden hard and put away wet" not have any warranty issues!! Not many cars with an RS6's performance could make that claim.

Great article, thanks for sharing!!!

I remember talking to the guy who was using this car way back when I won that audi day compition with evo. He said exactly what was written, that people always want to borrow it lol. Was dirty as heck though :( but shows they use it :D

BTW if anybody in the UK gets the evo magazine they did a 4 page spread about the audi day compition in the feb edition. When I get some web space eventually i'll scan it in and host it.

hehe... also think I saw/heard another RS6 the otherday.. 2nd one i've seen locally

Note: You have to press return again too see the scanned document.

"It's the British-built engine that makes it so special, the burbling swell of power soon becoming addictive, and all wrapped up in such a beautifully engineered, user-friendly package, good enough for the likes of Nick Mason, Ross Brawn and Jay Kay to use as daily transport."

"The other major costs were tyres, which seemed to last 12-15,000miles, (around £800 a set), and brakes, which wouldn't do more than a few laps at a trackday before wilting into a horrible, juddery mess. New discs and pads all-round were fitted at 10,000 miles and 28,000 miles, costing £927 a time."
