For all those interested with AutoCar's 2003 review of Britain's best handling car.

http://www.autocarmag.com

I note that the Volvo is much faster than the Honda on the straights but not in the corners...

Audi S4 :s4addict:
Lap time: 1.25,2
Peak lateral g: 0.97
Peak speed (straight): 163 km/h
Peak speed (corner): 109 km/h

Honda Accord Type-S
Lap time: 1.30,0
Peak lateral g: 0.90
Peak speed (straight): 145 km/h
Peak speed (corner): 106 km/h

Volvo S60R
Lap time: 1.30,5
Peak lateral g: 0.91
Peak speed (straight): 155 km/h
Peak speed (corner): 100 km/h

Other lap times:

911 GT3 1.20,2
Murciélago 1.22,2
Audi S4 1.25,2
BMW Z4 1.25,7
Porsche Boxster 1.26,4
E55 AMG 1.27,3
Jaguar XJR 1.29,0
Mazda RX-8 1.29,0

Interestingly, The S4 reaches a higher peak speed on the straights than the E55 AMG. 163 km/h for the Audi vs. E55 @ 155 km/h... :bye:

The track was the inner circuit on the below picture http://www.rockingham.co.uk/

Once you learn the technique of launching the B6 S4 6-speed, it is deadly fast.

Thanks for the great post.

I read that part (@jabbasworld.net), they complained about that you can not turn off the traction control in the S4, which obivously had alot of the drivers whining.

They also said that the Rockingham track was a very "heavy" track for the S4.

Isn't that quattro doing it's thing? :)

I think any four wheel drive car needs a substantial amount of horsepower/toque to dislodge the grip that AWD platforms posses.

Erik,

Any stats for the RS6 on that track? I would be interested to see how it stacked up.
