So, I was wondering when Coil packs should be changed. I have 140,000 on the original parts. I have some misfires on two cylinders but that is being worked up, not apparently due to the coil packs. They are $30 each.

When have other changed theirs????

Mike

(PS My mechanic is taking valve cover off this week/next week (fit me in), and knows the cam adjuster is fairly new, but questions the CHAIN> do those get bad over time or just break?)

Replace them when they go bad. If you don't have misfires - they are good.

Chain usually doesn't go bad. Tensioner pads do.
Although I've seen this one recently:

He is certain he replaced the Tensioners at 127,000 miles but we are going to see.

I agree, I can't see a chain being 'bad' without be actually broken, which of course would be a catastrophic fault.

I just hope the problem is found with CERTAINTY and not try this, try that......
