My membership in the RS6 club is hereby suspended until further notice. Thunderstorms through this part of Illinois last week brought with it flash floods and me getting caught in them. Long story short, engine hydrolocked and my insurance company is totaling it out. Damn , I'm pissed!! I was a few hundred miles from hitting 150,000 and it was running great. It's a sad day but the search begins.

P.S At least USAA is giving me more for it than I thought I would get so thats a bright spot I suppose. Still..............

BUY IT BACK! Read my threads, the same thing happened to me and i bought it back and resold it.

Long story short the guy who bought it thought it might not have actually had any valve damage by the time he drained the water from the oil and trans and put fresh fluids in... He did eBay a new engine though out of an abundance of caution and put that in.

I will need to edit my signature vedy soon...it is within a few hundred of flipping to 200K. At 140K I hit 140 mph, at 150K I hit 150 mph, at 160K I hit 160 mph, at 170K I hit 170 mph....I did not notice it flip to 180 and so the sequence ended..Fortunately- no tickets/arrests were involved during the tests..;0

Crazy has spent its' fair share (actually quite a bit more) of time on the ER table. I swear my wallet shudders at times when I walk by the car

Peanuts. Lots of life left - as long as it's taken care of.

Agreed...now if only my blood pressure wouldn't rise at startup until all lights go away. Not too big of a worry really, just don't have the best shop down the street anymore.

Max, well done sir!

Thanks Max and Iswing

Yeah, even after I got my RS6, I would look from time to time to see what they were going for. Now, I'm looking because I actually "need" too and I've noticed a price difference increase actually from just 2 months ago it seems. I should have bought another one then and kept it "for a rainy day".....Literally!!

Would seriously consider buying it back from the insurance company. When my first beast was totaled, the difference between full totaled payout and buyback was not that great, and DHall will confirm that there was much left for others. It is now a significant part of Stephen's Avant transformation. You have a Tozo trans, TCU chip, Kenwood unit...don't let them end up in the crusher. There will be buyers and more importantly, you will pass on good things to folks here who appreciate what we have with this car. I would guess the transmission alone would sell for well more than the difference between your buyback and totaled payout.

They may have already picked the car up already. I will go by my mechanic's garage to see if they have in the morning after
I get off work. If it's still there I will call USAA to see what the buyback amount would be.

Thanks man. Not sure what I'm going to replace it with but I think that I will at least see what USAA will loan on another one. LOL. Probably
not much, I'm sure , it being a 2003 and all, but USAA has surprised me before so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Sent you a PM

Lol, thanks for the offer peiserg, but I'm a kind of "under the radar" kind of guy so I don't think red would work for me. Now if you'd offer to sell me that color
car to me 30 years ago, I'm sure I would have did it in a heartbeat.!! Guess I'm mellowing out in my old age!
