Hello everyone. Been a while. I have original rear driver caliper with a rusted bleed valve. What has everyone been replacing the complete caliper with. Any preferred make model information will be greatly appreciated. A rebuild is 500 and new is 1000. Might as well replace with new of something else. Thank you.

I have heard of rebuilds cheaper and rebuilds making it near new. Last time I was in the Audi dealer around me here in Michigan, there was another RS6 in and I said oh what is he having done. And they were like oh a lot of things but one of the cool things was we had all of his calipers redone for him. And if I remember correctly, he got them all refurbed for ~200 per. I was really impressed. They said the work was excellent too.

P.S. do you drive a Volt?

$470 for the left and $410 for the right, although you could find a better source than ECS.

Alcons = done

Isn't there a big brake kit for the RS6 (335mm) that uses the R8 rotor/caliper/bolts/etc (360mm)???
Or perhaps Audi Ceramics @ $10k :)

Rebuild kit right on that page you linked.

Rebuilding a caliper isn't rocket science.

Ha, good call. I just posted up since Voltguys caliper prices were so far off...guessing he's getting bent by a stealer.

Yeah, totally. People complain about how expensive it is to maintain these cars but you have to pick your battles. Especially when you depend on shop charging you labor.

I had mine rebuilt locally for $100/ea. They're pretty standard calipers, unlike the front ones.

Probably not the cheapest but he did my old 911S Aluminum calipers years ago and they were like new afterward. Still holding up although I do use DOT5 (Silicone) fluid in them (Pressure bled and no ABS). Finish still looks like new although a Day VFR vehicle (only good Wx).

so the bleed valve is rusted cracked and letting air in to system. Needs to be repaired. Due to design not able to retap and install a larger OD bleed valve. Have to go new. Damn.
