This is a Mugello Blue Pearl with Ivory interior RS6 with 141,000 miles. It’s bone stock except for some light window tint. Body and interior are excellent. The engine is a rocket but the transmission will default to 5th gear after it warms up. I took it to the Carlisle Import Festival over 200 miles round trip this spring and had it up to 110 on the PA autobahn so you can still drive it anywhere. New Virgina state inspection. I just detailed the exterior and have more pictures at: 2003Audi RS6 (http://www.fototime.com/inv/70A05375EE95F53) I’ll add additional photos of the interior soon as well as more maintenance pics.

My other car is a 2010 VW GTI and I have a webpage with 150 pictures and a full description at: https://sites.google.com/site/atikovi2013/home/2010-vw-gti

Price for both is $25,500 firm but I could possibly deliver them at that price. Might consider part trades as well. atikovi@email.com (atikovi@email.com)

What kinda trans work does she need? Got vag-com logs?

Haven't looked into it but worse case is a rebuilt unit around $2,500 or used around $1,000 if you R&R it yourself. Logs follow. Doubt it's as simple as a fluid change or level issue. Could be a sensor or solenoid? Odd that it defaults to 5th when most limp home modes go to third.

Try 10k for trans

Is that with a gold plated case? Thought I saw a used one listed under $1,000 on one of the forums, in addition http://europeantransmissionscom.x-shops.com/shop/product.php?productid=16211&cat=485&page=1 has them remaned at $2,650 and local shops will rebuild for under $2,000.

You must be smoking something really good if you think I'll take anywhere near $5k for it.

It needs a transmission, EGT's, ABS module most likely, 2 door locks/latches, and an AC flap motor. How much do you think it's worth?

ABS module needs a $100 rebuild, nothing wrong with the doors and the AC blows ice cold out of the correct vents. I think it's worth a lot more than the $5K I probably could sell the engine alone for. NADA says $18,000 less $2-3K for a rebuild or $1-2K for a used tranny. So if I said I think it's worth $15K, would you say I was crazy? No more crazy than $5k. And no I don't think is worth that much. Bottom line is I rather sell the GTI first or together, but if I'm going to sell the RS6 it will have to be 5 figures. If it doesn't bring that much I'll hold on to it.

Had to cut out the unimportant stuff. Let's go from the top, with $18k as your starting point. Knock 5% (call it $1k) for not being immediately driveable - we're at (($17,000))

16885 - VSS - $70 + 1/2 hr labor - call it $100, whatever no biggie (($16,900))
17861 - Gamble on this, either $550 plus 6-8 hours labor to replace, or it may be fixed with the solder trick. Buyers assume broken, so -$1200 and we're at (($15,700))
18032 - will be cleared by fixing VSS and EGT errors, then running anywhere from 75-500 miles to reset readiness. Can't pass VA inspection with a readiness error, but won't knock you for it.

17117 and 17114 - 3rd gear ratio intermittently incorrect - HIGHLY doubt it's just a solenoid. Trans rebuild is $2650 minimum, with freighting closer to $3k, and that's doing the R/R myself. -$3k because shop labor is ridiculous to pull transmission and we're not even going there. (($12,700))
(((Edit - forgot the cost of refill fluids, knock another $200 minimum from final price way below)))

00283 - Wheel speed sensors are cheap. Usually the open/short to plus means sensor is on its way out and will mess with ABS system. -$50 and a case of beer (($12,600))

00716 - The V113 error could be many things but usually either a busted fuse (-$0.25), or a bad flap positioning motor (-$159 for OE part 4B1-820-511C plus about an hour of labor -$100) assume the worst, so -$250 brings us to (($12,350)) so far.

01561 and 01562 are tough codes, intermittent on the rear doors is usually not something most beast tamers worry about. Worst case scenario is replacing central locking module (usually not the culprit), but more often it's the lock actuator. While that's cheap parts, it's a lot of labor that can be done by pretty much any half-decent DIY'er. Knock $150 ($75/ea for actuator) (($12,200))

Last but not least 01531 - Onstar Battery is an hour or less with the right tools, I did a writeup on it a couple weeks back - if I can do it, anyone can. zero cost.

So - I'd say $12,200 is going to be top dollar, and that's going to be from someone who:
1) Knows what they're doing
2) Is willing to put in the time and effort
3) Doesn't mind having a non-functional car while the trans is out

If it were someone like me, who would possibly consider it but need to have shop pull transmission, knock another $2k minimum, and there's an assumption that the Torque converter is fine (Another ??$500?? for the rebuild - help me out here, more knowledgeable people) and we're talking high 4-figures.

I'm not trying to discourage you, just showing you why you're getting low offers and maybe hopefully pointing you in a direction of little stuff you can fix on your own time that'll help somewhat with resale value. Selling an RS6 with a busted trans is a painful process...

Knock 5% (call it $1k) for not being immediately driveable

That is incorrect. As mentioned in my original post, I drove it up to Carlisle and back and even had it up to 110 on the way. I'm still driving it once or twice a week now.

Otherwise, some of those codes listed may not be current. I'll have to rescan after deleting.

So - I'd say $12,200 is going to be top dollar

Everybody always highlights the negatives on a car they are looking at, which I can understand, while ignoring the positives. With this car you won't have to spend over $1,000 for a brake job. You won't have to spend over $1,000 for a set of Continental tires. You won't have to spend a few thousand on paint or bodywork or interior repairs that you normally see on 12 year old cars. And if you're in Virginia, don't have to hassle with the state inspection. I'm not saying those would add to the value, and I agree, $12,200 isn't unreasonable to expect either. And I did say I could deliver. Might boil down to whether that Mugello Blue really turns someone on compared to the more mundane color choices.

Missed the part about you driving it to Carlisle, my bad.

Agree on the brake job, tires, exterior and interior being in good condition. Like I said, wasn't trying to crap all over your car, just saying why I think you're getting lowballs.

Everyone looks at the negatives, I agree - I sold my Jeep that was low-miles, oldschool, lifted, all done right, just needed front R&P gear - an $800 job at any aftermarket specialty jeep shop knocked $3500 off the value, but I didn't have time/money to get it done, so it went way under real value. Was happy to see it went to a kid that had a good mentor ready to show him how to work on it, and get the job done right.

I've got a special place in my heart for Mugello, unfortunately don't have that special place in my wallet as I'm trying to buy a house, and you know how the market is in the DC metroplex. :|

That procedure plus a code reset will remove 01531 from memory and will never let it set again. I'm sure there's a way to code it out, but I went with the "less weight is better" method of pulling the modules and re-routing native GPS antenna cable up to my RNS-E :)

I'll stress one thing with that procedure - don't skip the bendable extension. You'll thank me.

Easy to quote diy repairs and sub standard trans reman prices. Much harder to do the work.

How many here can r and r this driveline? 8 and we already own one.

Do i trust a 2000 dollar reman plus shipping? Nope

Fix the car and get your 15 or you are dead in the water where you stand.

Imho

Glad I could help, even if it is the easiest/cheapest item on the list.

If you don't already have a good shop local to you, I think I've got a more-than-halfway-decent one out here by Dulles. Shoot me a PM if you want to get a solid answer on your transmission woes for not a whole ton of dosh. I had alternator problems, they swapped in one that I'd sourced that went dead after 2 hours (faulty part), and didn't directly charge me for the 7 hours of diagnostics where they point-by-point eliminated every other possibility other than the bad alternator (well, they really just rolled it into the 2nd R&R job, but still...). Owner of the shop has a nice Phaeton W12 that he'd almost definitely do a trade on if you're just looking to change vehicles. With the codes you've got, and your ABS getting fixed, I'd say it'd be about an even trade.

Like I said, PM me, I'll get you two talking if you're interested.

That's what I was talking about, not that anyone would be able to tell by my last reply...

:mech::mech::mech::mech::mech:

Let me know if you do end up talking to Rudy, he loves and hates my :addict: every time I bring it to him. Something that'd be an easy hour job on any other car ends up being 6+, good and bad for him - good for the $$$ inflow, bad for trying to schedule his shop crew. I saw his latest project still on the rack yesterday - 20(07?) S4, Red, Manual - he bought it at a good price, replaced some small bits, and the A/C is still non-op for him, he had the front bumper assembly off and engine in service position on a lift in the back corner of the garage - something like a $30 part is going to end up taking 16 hours of labor to replace. Gotta love that Audi engineering! The condenser is mounted to the front driver bottom corner of the engine on that car, looked like a real pain to get to... kinda like the oil cooler on the BCY (Step 1: disassemble everything).

Ugh sorry to keep adding irrelevant stuff to your thread, hope you can get away with keeping the beast! Would definitely recommend posting the GTI up on the vortex, they'll pay a premium there if it was kept in the same garage as a RennSport ;)

How about instead of the GTI, a 2007 Volvo C70 convertible hardtop with a rare 6-speed manual and 111,000 miles? $17,500 for the two. I'll post picks if any interest.
