It struck me like a bolt, while chasing down a bike at 240kph + that this beast that I am driving is like nothing ever built before. Its a plain looking car, nice lines but nothing outlandish. She drives very well in traffic, and is quite comfortable. But here I am overpassing this bike at 260+ now and she has not stopped accelerating ! She is steady at these speeds as if she is doing 50. She can decelerate at an incredible rate, while keeping her posture.

She acts like a sedan, but can slap almost anything out there in her rather stock form. (small tune)

Now for an 11 year old car that is pushing north of 230k KM , and at the price I bought her, there is nothing else that can even come close to the value these cars have. I am now looking for another. What a machine! Everytime I spank something out there I usually get a look of utmost disbelief wondering what the fu*k was that ??

She is my part time daily driver and she is pure JOY to own and drive.

These cars are a thing of beauty, which is what attracted me to them in the first place. I am also thinking of buying another, or building a rs6 avant out of a s6.

There's not much to liken the feeling to.

People tell me that they can get the same numbers out a 2.7T but the only thing I can say is that you just need to drive the 4.2T. Especially from 80 to 1xx.

I agree...and with a stick, it's even more fun...and faster...

I had the perfect S6 avant for the conversion but could not find the RS6 donor. I finally sold it because I hated driving the S6.

Once you have driven a properly sorted RS6......everything else is sub-par.

Now i have the perfect RS6 donor for the S6 avant project and no S6. Crap

My daily driver is an 02 S6 Avant and is by far one of the best driving cars I have ever had. It is past 150K and still keeps most modern cars honest. Nothing like having a sports car that can haul a two set of tires in the rear. It fits and feels like a well worn pair of Italian loafers. I will keep one in my fleet for as long as they keep renewing my drivers license. For weekend runs I drive an RS6 Avant. Certainly the car excels over the S6 in every category and is a blast to drive but I still enjoy the S6 for generic or utilitarian drives.

I would guess that an RS6 Avant is even more rare than a 2004 RS6, can you post up some pics for us?

As requested a few pics of the RS6. The first pics show the stock silver wheels. Car has very low miles but the gentlemen that originally owned the car used that wheels as parking feelers, so when I refinished them, I did them in a hyper silver which looks black in the photo but for the purpose of description think candy silver over black. I think it gives the car a bit more of a sinister look. As with the RS6 sedan, this is still a great sleeper as most don't know what it is.

It will be getting a 6 speed manual latter in the summer. My turbo guy will give the stock turbos a little internal work while the motor is out, down pipes and that is all the mods. For what the vehicle is it does not need anymore power. I have a few big power vehicles that are also lighter if I need to get a velocity fix. Have to put a plug in for Steve's adapter kit. The machine work on the flywheel is world class.

Nice. Is this the one from Shokan Auto? Only a few of these true avants in the states right now. There is also PW's old silver one. What's the import story on this?

All nice cars, that I cannot even begin to contemplate of owning. The one that I own is the best ! I get to drive her every day, either in a docile low pitch rumble, or in a predator deafening growl, she responds without hesitation and executes flawlessly. My wife is jealous!

From the seller...I sent him a message.

This is a feeler.... I'm not sure I'm ready, but I may have found something else I am interested in.

Car has a bunch of miles and some RS6 mods, needs a little work, PM for more details, I'm open to offers....

Edit; Just got this info. It's from FB, so let me know if you want his contact, will PM it.

It has 152k on it, replaced power steering pump a few months ago. Timing belt done at 120k, needs motor mounts and hand brake cable repaired. Planning to do that stuff pretty soon if I don't sell it first.

RS6 Alcantara Steering Wheel
Piano Black RS6 interior Trim (Euro Only Option no ugly fake wood)
Hotchkis sways front and rear
Bilsteins w/ H&R springs
Magnaflow cans
Sitting on Alzor 17" wheels and snow tires no other wheels available

Headlights are not OEM they are after market and on the car when I bought it. Honestly I would probably find some eCodes on eBay.de or something if I keep it.

Any other questions?

@essexmetal, is that a true RS6 Avant or a conversion? I was reading a while back about a guy who tried to legalize an Avant here and the process was so cost-prohibitive I think he might have sent it back to Europe!

Rick - very jealous of the car, and the fact that you don't have to run a front license plate. I guess it's not quite an even trade for having to live in Michigan, though... Seconding question from Turbowned, is that an S6 conversion or imported and legalized? Would love to know the total bill for legalizing an RS6-Avant!

I've seen the Shokan car in the flesh as it showed up at SFest in CT many moons ago. It was a Flood damage car IIRC, but Aaron and his Dad got it all sorted out.

Now that mine has Koni's, gutted DP's, fresh suspension bits and a solid tune it really gets me warm and fuzzy every time I fire it up. I can only imagine how nasty it would be with a current 8 speed Tiptronic or 7 speed STronic. The final step is getting it to row gears with an O1E...or get one ready to go.

Ken is right- from 80 on up it gets to Ludicrous speed pretty damn fast.

4th gear passing on open roads starting at around 60mph is a wonderful thing...

Very much looking forward to getting mine off jackstands and aligned with the new Konis, front control arms and tie rods, freshly refinished wheels, and getting a Eurocharged tune shortly after that! It's been off the road for too long.

Yes it is the Shokan car. Original rich Texas owner drove it through a flash flood and hydraulic'd the motor. Bent some rods so the boys got a set of Pauter Rods made for it since Audi offered no parts. So it is not exactly a virgin but it is only got 14K miles on it. Having owned a RS6 Sedan and my current S6 it is easy to see the amount of parts that are different / unique. Hats off to those who take on a authentic RS6 build on an S6 Avant.

I'm back to 2 and hopefully back to 1 in another year as I start delving in to the logistics of getting an 02 RS Avant out of Europe/UK (which should have a 2001 build date) shipped over to me here for Xmas 2016....

Definitely a German/Euro model right?...seems like you'd want the steering wheel on the correct side of the car...unlike those silly right hand drive Brits.

Definitely a German/Euro model right?...seems like you'd want the steering wheel on the correct side of the car...unlike those silly right hand drive Brits. With the likelihood of it being a 5Tip, it's not all that critical IMO. If I were rowing a 6MT, it would absolutely need to be LH drive as there is no way at this point in my life that I would want to try to train my left hand to perform the feats associated with shifting gears....
