View Full Version : Opinions on changing Brake Lines - no leaks, just 12 year old original equipment

Hi all,

I bought a replacement set of four from ECS when I first thought I had a brake line leak. So I have the parts and I'm dropping the car off next week at my independant Porsche mechanic to have the CV boot replaced. So I am on the fence about having him do that also, running the risk of something else being broken trying to fix a non-problem.

Appreciate the input.

Mike

I've heard our OE lines are fairly strong. Might not hurt if you have the parts, labor isn't too long, few hours. I replaced mine with braided metal and OE lines still looked good.

Get it done. I consider that an upgrade really. I understand the whole "it's not broken, don't fix it" but replacing 12 year old OE brake lines is just maintenance in my opinion. I replaced my OE lines with the ECS lines as well.

Would I replace a 200$ -300ish dollar alternator or similar hard part as maintenance probably not as I would attempt to repair or rebuild it first.
