Well, I was browsing AZ and it looks like they found a perfect solution for vagcom in the car.

Here is the threads with the info for the 7" version...

Here is a link to the 7" for $60 + shipping

BUT After reading the reviews for the 7" i decided I would rather just get the 10" as it has double the speed.

Link to the 10" version... I paid $159 for an "open box" and it looks brand new still.

I recommend getting a rechargeable bluetooth mouse, a stylus pen and a USB car charger so you can charge the tablet while it's in the car (vagcom will be using the usb port) this way, if you were to get the 7" version... you could technically leave it in the glove box at all times. I just wanted a little bigger screen and faster processing for logs.

This is what I purchased in store... :)

Can you explain for us laymans how the full setup would work? I just have regular OBD reader and if things are bad (or I can't fix it) then I take it to someone with Vagcom but I've always wanted a cheap vagcom setup but I also never had old PC's laying around running old versions of Windows.

If you could please tell me exactly what I'd need to buy (a cable, software from rosstech too, etc.) to run this I'd appreciate it.

Buy everything in this thread I posted, and then buy the rosstech cable here: http://store.ross-tech.com/shop/VCHUC.html

Download the software on the tablet and wala, you're in business.

Look solid, good setup. I've got an extra brand new Windows 8 Dell Inspiron 11.6 inch I might let go for $350. Let me put VCDS on it and confirm VAGCOM works with Windows 8, sure it does.

Well I can see why having a tablet would be nice, I run vcds off my netbook, which isn't much bigger then my 10.1 galaxy. Although, I do wish my tablet had a usb.
