Sorry guys, I'm so clueless at this. I just got some Hella smoked taillights and thought it would be cool to replace the incandescent bulbs with LED to try and modernize the car a little. I know it's not going to make it look like a new Audi LED tail light but at least the clarity and response time should improve. I know I need some sort of relay or resistor to prevent the "hyper-blink" side effect of the LED's drawing less (current?) than standard bulbs. Has anyone done this who can provide some insight? With my Subaru it was a simple matter of replacing the flasher relay under the dashboard... but I haven't seen a plug-and-play option for our car. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place...

Refer specifically to posts #13 & #15. (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/304278-Got-LED-bulbs-for-turn-signal-now-blinks-too-fast)

Also - blilnkers (https://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/flashers-load-resistors/)

How To - DIY (http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Install-Load-Resistors-for-LED-Turn-Signal-/)

Personally would look to do something with a blinker vs. the resistor.

I looked at that exact thread and that exact site. Trouble is, I don't know which relay I'd need to replace... I am not gonna wire in-line resistors as that just seems too ghetto-fabbed.

I had good luck with replacing the tail lights with LED units off ebay - they came with their own inline resistors and everything. A6/S6/RS6 C5's all used the same tail light capsule (unlike headlights). Try to find the ones that are very slightly smoked / OE looking for the best look right out of the box. I'm loving my LED tails. The other bulb to replace at the same time is the 10x tiny bulbs in the high-mount brake light - I believe they are size 74? superbrightleds.com will steer you in the correct direction there.
