Diminished value

As some may remember my RS was hit a two weeks back while I was parked. My view is the car is a total loss but my insurance company is still considering the issue. If they do not write it off, do any of you have experience or guidance in demanding compensation (either from my insurance company or from the woman who ran into me) for the deminished value of a substantially repaired car? As we all well know, a car that has been hit is worth dramatically less than one that has not been, regardless of the skill of the mechanic/body shop, but I have never had to cross this bridge.

Any stories, experience etc. would be most appreciated.
