Press Kit

400-horsepower engine, torque 450 Nm, 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, 300 km/h maximum speed, provoking design, extra large shape. A Honda S2000 like this, with such fervent propulsion and of such resolute styling, has never been seen before. The Japanese spider certainly is nothing new, but in this “outfit” at its world debut at the Essen Motor Show 2003, it turns into something really special.

Two Italian tuners are the masterminds of its striking transformation: Franco Alosa and CHD Tuning, the former specialised in mechanic and electronic tuning, the latter specialised in bodykits. Several other Italian and international companies, well known in the car-tuning world, participated in this project: O•Z Racing (alloy wheels), Supersprint (exhaust systems), Toyo (tyres), Brembo (brake systems), BMC (air filters), Bilstein (suspension kits) and Isotta (aesthetic accessories).

Power and resolute styling are the key words characterising this “Super S2000”. Power was obtained by applying a turbo-intercooler kit and adapting electronics, especially devised for the 4- cylinder Honda 2.0 16v. These modifications, made by Franco Alosa, together with the decompression of the engine, necessary to reliably exploit the 0.9 bars of pressure of the turbocharged circuit, enabled to production of extra 160 H.P. to add to the 240 H.P. offered by the current production model. Other coadjutors to this extraordinary result are the intake kit (BMC) and the exhaust system (Supersprint); both developed to support the new needs of the Japanese 2-liter. All this power is kept under control by exploiting the best technology available as far as sportive suspensions, wheels, tires, and brakes are concerned. The duty of stabilising the frantic S2000 was assigned to Bilstein. The company provided a kit of gas shock absorbers type PSS9 and hold springs; nose-diving and rolling were reduced and driving sensitivity was increased without excessively sacrificing comfort. Bilstein’s enterprise was reinforced with Toyo Proxes T1-S tires (sizes: 245/35 ZR20 front; 275/30 ZR20 rear) and O•Z Racing lightweight aluminium alloy wheels (series “Superleggera - III Forged”; sizes: 8.5 x 20” front and 9.5 x 20” rear) with 6 pairs of spokes. To safely and rapidly stop the roadster, Brembo provided its Racing brake system, constituted of ventilated disks and 4-piston calipers.

At this point, CHD Tuning had the duty to display this power with resolute styling. CHD Tuning devised a bodykit – limited to only thirteen numbered models – constituted of side skirts, enlarged wheel chassis, bulged front and rear bumpers, hood and rear spoiler made of compound material. This bodykit aims to reflect the car’s performances by celebrating the aggressiveness of the front and extending this power to the entire car, also to the originally less inspired rear part. Each line is a perfect game of continuity and harmony, and shows at the outside what this S2000 has inside: a hard of 400 H.P. Available with TUV certificate, this exclusive bodykit gives new measures to the Honda S2000, now 419 cm long (5 cm longer than the standard model) and 182 cm large (7 cm larger). Also interiors have been changed: Isotta provided accessories of valuable manufacture (steering wheel, hub and gear knob).

All the kits devised for the exclusive Honda S2000 Turbo were tested in order to obtain maximum quality and reliability. To respect this engagement, the car designer CHD Tuning and the tuner Franco Alosa will limit the production to a restricted number of models.

I've always liked S2000, but considered the engine to be the weak part of this car. This version would find some place in my garage for sure.

well... I hate this bodykit.. it`s too much "fast and a furious"-style and I hate it :D.. but stock body with these nice rims and the turbo - great. Some bigger breaks and the car is a class of it`s own.. but it`s only my opinion :)
