I had read about this accident in Car and Driver (in their coverage of taking a new Pontiac GTO to this race), and wondered if there wasn't video of the wreck somewhere.
The guy did a pretty good job holding it straight for a few moments after the tire blew, but after that, YIKES.
And it was running about 330-340 KPH (206-212 mph) when the tire let go.
He was trying to set a new all-time unlimited record for that race with this run.
I'll bet the driver needed a change of underwear when that wild ride was over. :bigeyes:
