I'm just in the process to order winter tires for my RS6.
I will use the standard 18" rims but I'm not sure if to go with 255/40/18 or to "down-size" to either 235 or 245`s?
Most of the winter time I'll drive the car in wet roads(Stockholm Sweden), rather than icy or snowy roads.
Any rekommendations?

I don't know what the temperatures are like in Stockholm, in Germany, where it does not get very cold, there are some excellent Yokohama AVS Winter Sport tyres which are designed to operate well between -15 and 15 Celcius.
For speed rating reasons, Audi sells a 240km/h rated Dunlop Winter tyre for the RS6, this suits German conditions, I don't know what it is like on snow and ice.
My general rule of thumb is to pick a winter tyre which is rated for the slowest speed I can stand driving at, it will perform better in bad conditions.

Im getting Nokian Hakkapelliti (or whatever the spelling is) 4.

225/40 18

I dont know what rims to use, the stock 18" rs4 rims are to wide, but it would be nice to use them to something since Im getting new summer rims anyway. :)

You need 225/45R18 not 40 !!!
The wheel size should be 7.5"
