Stock 2014 5.0 automatic beats tuned RS6. I was sad, tears may have followed.

Their interior looks extremely cheap though :R8kiss:

Numbers and link please...doubt unless you're talking the Shelby for $55k, then no worries, and still only in the dry in a straight line. Beats how? Makes no sense?

Stock 2014 5.0 automatic beats tuned RS6.Unless you were running a GT500 Shelby w/ the 5.8L supercharged engine, you shouldn't lose. Even the GT500 w/ 650hp can lose to a tune RS6 as driver skill and AWD traction become key factors.

Something is wrongo- I have gone around many of the 5.0 from dead stop or rollin

...now that GT500 Shelby is a monster and pulls like a mo fo down the straights-I've had point-by practice and seen their tail lights get smaller multiple times

Haha

I just looked up the Z06 I beat down this morning. LOL my car is running good. ;-)

Now, its not like I put 3 car lengths on him but from 60-90 I was pulling ahead.

Should have seen the look on his face. Priceless.

He will learn not mess with the beast under those conditions again. 65degrees driving down the hwy with nice chilled intercoolers on the RS6. The best conditions for my car. haha

Isn't the 2014 not out? Also, you don't know what mods they had. And I'd be checking for a boost leak if I were you.

You could say a Mustang with unknown mods beat you, that's possible...

Im sorry guys, as much as I love my RS6 and would not own a new Mustang 5.0

Those cars stock are way way faster then you think they are. The coyote motor is sadly one of biggest monsters being made right now.

SO I am up at elevation (5280 ft above sea level), our track is at 5400'.

A bone stock RS6 will consistantly run a 13.9-14.0 up here. I have driven 4 of them when running right and got same times out of them.

A 2013 Mustang 5.0 at bandimere runs a 13.4, I have two friends with them and went straight from dealer lot to drag strip. Temp tags and all.

Now my 1st car 'tuned' and precats removed, all else stock would run a consistent 13.1-13.2 up here

AND now for the heartbreaker part.

A turbo car will loose about 8 tenths from coming from sea level to Denver 1/4 mile time. So that should put a tuned RS6 in the range of 12.4-12.5 ish

A N/A car will loose from 1.5 sec to 2.0 sec coming up to this elevation. So on the low side that puts a new mustang at the 12.0 range. Which many of people have proved, even magazines have run around 12 flat 1/4's with those cars.

Dont know any ANY just 'tuned' RS6 that will keep up with that

Im from Colorado as well (stationed in AR), and I know how hard it is to run 11's at Bandimere. The mustang was stock lol, its a friend of mine, he was driving BACK from the dealership and we met up for black friday nonsense. His brother works at Ford, and its most def a 2014. As far as logging, Max, care to help out with that? I'm available whenever <3

I dont think year of new mustang matters. You can Google from 2012 - 2014 5.0 coyote mustangs and see people running from 12.2-12.8's BONE STOCK

Sadly they are a real quick car stock. And thats not even the shelby package cars

Ross Tech will help you out with that, I'd advise you get the software sooner than later. You can confirm the performance of your ride.

Remember, you've got a luxury car with awd that can win in plenty of situations vs a plastic rwd mustang....just saying.

I am assuming it was the "RS6 #1 with stuff"? c5 Z06s are no joke stock with 115 to 116 mph traps. You say he was not stock...with bolt ons they can be in the high teens/low 120s. Your car must pack quite a punch to take one.

02' to 04' ZO6 only had 405 crank, soooooo with all your mods prolly bringing you up to around 550ish crank you should have walked him. Just the same though, I raced a seemingly stock C6 Vette from a stoplight and the look on his face I'm sure matched the guys you are talking about.

Back on topic...

The new Mustang 5.0 is 420 hp and has about 300 lb advantage over the RS6. Preventing wheel spin in 1st-2nd gear should give good et times, as others have stated.

The C5 Corvette Z06 is almost 1000 lbs lighter, so even at only 405 hp it should be much more of a match for us, but the surprise element really helps when you're already rolling, versus lining up for a dead even start.

That said, I'd rather drive away from either situation in my RS6.

Cmnair
November 30th, 2013, 21:22
I had an 02 Z06..it dynoed 354 whp bone stock and came in under 3100 lbs (around 3018 actually). Even if the RS6 had 450 awhp it probably would be not enough to overcome the weight difference. How much does the RS6 weigh? Close to 4400lbs? I also had a stage 3 A6 with 440 awhp and had a chance to compare the two cars.

I am not questioning what happened, I can see it happening 60 to 90 on the street (driver mod and underestimating the RS6 etc), but this is not an expected outcome.

Don't get me wrong, I love the RS6 (hoping to find one to put in my garage), but this is an apples to oranges comparison.

A few things, Dyno numbers vary as we know. Also, torque is way ahead in the rs6, major importance. A ballpark number for the tuned rs6's on here is 500/550 engine. And, awd gets you off the line better, then the torque puts other cars to shame once the weight is rolling...

bmlee said it best...even if you lost a close race the rs6 is what you'd want to roll away with.

Ok, time to go put the snow tires on....oh yea, rwd cars don't do so well....case closed!

DHall1

It quite often comes down to the turbo vs na situation and the torque difference. Also a major factor is the weight as was noted.

I think the C5 RS6 comes in at 4100lbs

2 people in the Z06.

As noted rolling on the hwy at cool 65degree temps. A well tuned RS6 would develop an easy 530hp/550tq under those conditions. The rest is history.

I should have checked the trunk of the Z06. There may have been 10 illegals being smuggled into AZ.

I would be looking for a leak somewhere - I don't have a reference with a stock tune (and certainly if you had some big heat or something you could have some problems but...) I am tuned and I can show my tail lights to a ZL1 Camaro... any time that I have been beside a new Mustang there is either a lack of room or the owner has had no interest (doesn't know what is beside him).

When I was getting on the highway today it REFUSED to shift. It held the same RPM, MPH and would not shift just sat there. I thought it might have been because the traction control kicked for second because I waited about a mile and it shifted fine. It's been getting really jerky and reluctant to be consistent the last few days just going through town.

I did the 5th gear 50mph the day I noticed it and it was fine, no sign of slip. Now.. I don't REALLY care because its under warranty though at the same time I would prefer not to have it down when its winter -_-

Did this race go down in Colorado or Kentucky? I know I shipped you the ECU to Kentucky but your Skype details said you were from Denver.

The reason I ask is because a turbocharged car like the RS6 will be significantly slower at high elevation than a naturally aspirated Mustang.

A NA car is at a disadvantage at higher altitude while a FI car has the advantage. Turbo's are atmospheric compressors. They use them on airplanes. It would be ludicris to believe their use on an airplane where high altitude is a requirement would come at the cost of significantly less engine power....

Normally aspirated car will loose 1 sec for every 5k feet of altitude. Turbo charged car looses 4 tenths for every 5k feet of altitude.

Pretty accurate. My turbo car went 11.99@110 at sea level, 12.43@106 up here...

You should buy the Avus silver one at Long Island Auto Find. Very nice condition, 68k, I think they were gonna let it go to me for $23k and eat the doc fee. Only reason I declined was because I wanted Daytona Gray and the one in NJ was just a smidge nicer.

Also, there are plenty of cars out there that are faster than ours. They're either considerably more expensive or considerably less refined. So f**k 'em! I can't be bothered to drive a car with an interior that looks like a plastic factory. I'm looking at you, Detroit!!

Some say.....the RS6 is not a sports car. You cannot race it! It does not have a purpose on the track. It will break down constantly. Outdated C5 suspension. It was a shortsighted back yard garage attempt of a project.

Bone stock 4.5sec 0-60
12sec 1/4 mile and near/over 200mph top speed with just a tune.
8.29sec ring time with a novice driver and pass.
Champion Audi SCCA champion how many years?

Clearly this 10yr old platform should be banished to the back of the line.

I say F-em.
