I am a new user having just registered. I live in HK and own a 2009 RS6 V10 Saloon, which I brought in the UK and shipped to Hong Kong in 2012.
I also own a 2003 A6 2.7T and an 2009 A3 1.8T (and 2 motorbikes!!)
Recently I had a minor oil leak which was repaired by Audi (HK) - whole engine out job - ouch.....
Having had the car returned, it now has an alternator error.
My question is how many other V10 RS6 owners have had the same problem - I am told it is rare for the alternator to fail (car has 60K km's on the clock).

Hey, you'll have better luck on rs246.com as they are in Europe and have the car. We unfortunately don't get the V10 here in the states. Cheers!

lswing is right. I remember reading about this issue when i was researching about the RS6 C6 when looking for one to buy and it looks like it is an issue with the wiring and needs to be replaced, engine of course has to come out, i think i still have the service history pdf of the car i wanted to buy and this had been done under warranty...i'll post it if i find it...

Well, the RS6.com server is in SWEDEN which happens to be in Europe ;)

I did a search and didn't turn up too much. Found a guy in the UK that had a failure at 29K but didn't say what the outcome was after going to the dealer. Erik, didn't you get a C6 too?

C6 RS 6 is generally really reliable, much, much more reliable than the C5, not heard of a single gearbox failure, slip or weird behavior even when tuned to 750BHP/900-1000NM. Mine has been running 750BHP/960NM since it had about 5k on it and now on 53k, box and everything else is fine.

Ref the oil leak, see here, not common though it might become so once the cars get older.
