I am getting really bad wear on the inside edge of my tires after 12K miles (I am not lowered). I can only assume that its the control arms that are shot.

I am a fairly competent DIY'er but have never done these. Is this install one that can be done in a home garage since there should be no press fitting of bushings?

Thanks,

Alex

I think that kit is for the earlier A6's with Steel uprights. I think you want the http://www.europaparts.com/control-arm-kit-b5-c5-12-piece-4b3498510cmy-meyle.html kit for the later cars that have the Aluminum uprights like ours. Don't know if this is the cheapest price I've seen but the Meyle are the ones you want.

AlexSimple to swap the upper control arms out. Bit more involved for lowers, but still at home possible. The only thing that frequently hinders this being an 'easy and timely' effort is whether or not the lock bolt that holds the control arms in place to the top of the upright comes out easily or not. I've had to actually drill one out on a ride that saw the steel bolt become one with the aluminum upright via galvonic action.

Wider wheels but no spacers. Hmmmm... think adjustable control arms would fix this?

Ah, perfect. Thank you. :)

Any other sites you are aware of that would sell these at a better price?

Oh wow. I am hoping with being in CA and this being a CA car that I can skip these pains. We tend to not get corrosion or anything that some parts of the country get.

Start soaking that pinch bolt all around it with pblaster every day until you replace arms just in case. Even non-corrosive climates can have issues in there. Aluminum/steel/time = mish mash
