Hi folks, I own a 2000 A8L D2...4.2...and recently had an engine rebuild from Overland Parts out of California. I also attached a Lysholm AX2300 twin screw Supercharger. Finished up with 235KW AW. Pics etc can be found on my Audi Addict forum...that's just the background to this post.

http://audiaddict.net/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1628&sid=b9f9d4e91c8a394f3f08ff9591402c73

The engine was built for low compression 9:1 and has ported & polished RS6 heads...and runs 1 bar through the AX2300. Ran 14.1 1/4 mile at 101mph...before final tuning. This brings me to the topic. The supercharger kit did not come with any cooling or cold intake and it tends to overheat the engine...being in SYdney, we don't have much cold weather like European/UK folks. I would like to replace the supercharger with RS6 twin turbos...just wanted to see if anybody has a "kit" etc...or has done this before. I read somewhere that turbos in the A8 D2s tend to melt the aluminium chassis etc...that's a worry...:nana:

Anyways...am looking for pointers.

Best regards

Very nice, cheers and welcome mate!

Think about a water meth kit. Works great for cooling the compressed air, and bumps your octane a bit.

My brother put a supercharger on his V10 BMW M5, and it would run too hot. W/M kit on there and it's perfect now. Went with the Devils Own as I have on my car, solid straight forward setup. The M5 only has ~600hp now...

By hot do you mean the intake temps are getting too high and the car is pulling timing or is the coolant temp getting too high? Is there any room to install an Intercooler with the Supercharger setup?
I think the costs involved in parts, fabrication, and labor to install an RS6 setup in the A8 would be prohibitive. It would be nice if you had an RS6 sitting right next to your D2 to take measurements. You know the 5HP24 tranny in your D2 won't stand the extra power for long. The HP24 in the RS6 is a strengthened version of the tranny in your car and still doesn't last over time at stock power levels.

Call me Capt. Obvious, but all that effort and money, and you could have just bought a RS6?

This was before I blew the engine...black painted supercharged the standard 11:1 4.2 litre engine...ran for 50,000 kms...so that was pretty good.
new engine block and supercharger are red.

FWIW...Hey...I just noticed you're from the US...(my son spent 2 years in Wilmantic..or is it Willimantic CT...just got back at the end of 2011, he was born in CA 1988)...anyways, in Australia we have some awful government policies wrt cars...taxes, duties and restricted imports...can't import a car that's younger that 1991 at the moment...a new 2001 RS6 was around $185,000 and my 2000 A8L had a sticker price of $200,000...I did buy it when it was 3 years old...and it was a bargain at $60K...so you can see... Today a new A8 is still $219,000...no 2013 S8 yet...

not to be a C**k but the RS6 didn't exist in 2001 bruva (2003/4 in oz) and the sticker price was $219,570 + ORC and options (most drove away at around 240K )
