If that is the passenger side, the book says to remove the engine to get the valve cover off.

However, it is known that this repair can be done with the engine in the car. The coolant pipe that wraps around the cylinder head needs to be loosened, and carefully "flexed" out if the way, while sliding the cover off. A good mechanic could do this in under 3 hours.

3hrs to R&R a pair of vale covers - 45mins drivers side, 135mins passenger side....

Don't trust 'book time' on this one as the work can be completed without removal of engine. I could fly return trip air to you, perform the work, stay at a hotel with three round meals a day, and still make money for the price you're being quoted. That said though, if you don't have access to someone able to perform the work while the engine is in, then the costs balloon for sure.

Can buy a lot of oil for $6 a quart. Keep filling it till the motor needs to be pulled for the trans. Shouldn't be long.
