Politics aside did anyone catch that the transatlantic trade pact has a clause to allow the US and European safety standards to work across the board. Could this mean an end to the US not getting some of the cool cars or just as bad striped down cars? Somehow this slipped under my radar.

(Note: I don't know much about the pro/cons so not looking to debate those)

"Exports of motor vehicles from Europe to the United States could increase 149 percent if a deal removed existing tariffs and harmonized different safety standards, according to a study conducted by the Center for Economic Policy Research in London and released Tuesday by Mr. De Gucht’s office."

What about emissions standards?

IIRC, all states are adopting the California emissions standards (not how CA tests emissions) meaning that there isn't a 49 state car nor a CA car only.
