View Full Version : Somebody backed into me...

I hate parking lots. Some girl in a truck backed into my beast today. Only minor damage. As far as I can tell I only need to replace the aluminum trim on the bottom edge of the trunk, and the plastic sorround/fog light lens that is around the license plate.

Any idea where the best place to source these two parts? Can they still be bought new? The other driver is insured, and my car was parked and unattended, so if I need to go through her insurance I will, but prefer to fix it myself.

Sucks! Good luck there...

Shokan.com has been good for parts.

You could also post the parts you need in the title of a post, makes it easier if someone is selling.

thank God it wasn't worse, it doesn't look that bad and can be easily fixed! The license plate number trim can be replaced and so can the Al strip trim, as long as everything else is ok it's an easy fix!

Thanks guys. Just got back from the body shop, and the trunk is damaged. There is a little crease along the underside of the trunk where it bent very slightly due to the impact. This crease pushed the top of the trunk up a little bit. This crease in the underside of the trunk has caused a little hump in the top of the trunk just to the left of the spoiler. It's no longer flush with the top of the rear left fender. The bumper has a little scuff as well, so that'll have to be painted.

Should I try and have this trunk fixed (body shop it may not work), get a new shell and transfer all the trim from mine, or get a salvaged trunk? Thanks for all your advice in advance!

Joe

Wow! That stinks. I just saw your car last night and it was in perfect condition. At least it's repairable and not a lot of damage.

Hi Ken. Yeah man that's a bummer! The Audi Club of North America has a Lone Star Chapter. They're having a state-wide event on 8/9-11 in Frisco. I was thinking about joining the club and participating. Have you ever considered joining this club?

I am now. I hadn't looked into it before now. I think it would be fun. I know that there are a couple of other members on here that live in Dallas that might be interested also. It would be nice for all of the Tx members and anyone else to meet. That would be a good road trip for you.

Well, after a six week battle with the other driver's insurance company, I finally got the Beast back. The rear bumper, trunk, license plate/fog light plastic piece, and aluminum trim were all replaced with brand new OEM. The bumper had a wave in the top from the hit, and the trunk was out of kilter, sitting higher on the left side due to the structure buckling a bit.
