Please rank first thru third the Contintntal Extreme Contact DW, The Bridgestone Potenza RE050a and the new Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position. All three of these tires are significantly less money than the Michelin's which I know everyone loves. But since I don't race, and have budget issues, I guess my biggest concern between these three is probably tread life. Thanks for your help!

I love my Conti DWs. Quiet, smooth, great grip even in the wet. Have them on both cars for summer, bought through Tire Rack. Great price and road hazard insurance included in the cost. I haven't had to replace them, still low miles on both sets, so I can't comment on life, but I didn't see too much wear from start to end of last summer.

On a side not, check your local ACNA club website before you buy. Some sites have links to Tire Rack which generate some revenue for your club.

What is your tire size? Stock? What are you going to be paying for either of those tires?

My second choice were the Conti's, so I would go with those. I don't know what you are paying for the conti's but I got my Michelin Pilot Super Sports(275-30-19) for about $1100.00 shipped to my door from Jackson Racing. A great Price. Just letting you know..............

PSS>DW>most everything else>RE050's. A good friend of mine had the RE050's on his 350z. They seemed ok till he got the DW's. Night and day difference! Better ride, quieter and waaayyyy more grip.

Agreed!! Best Tire I have ever had. Dry Grip is phenomenal. Wet grip very good. Turn in Response is Immediate. As I said before, the best tire on the road as far as I'm concerned...............

I went thru two sets of DWs on the AMG. I would have switched out the DWs after the first set but the tires wore at different rates front to back on the AMG.

DWs were quiet at first and comfortable ride. But, the fronts got choppy on the inner treat block early. Mostly due to the high camber. If you look at the DW inner tread block its a separate block which would lend itself to cupping very easy. And it does.

DWs also seemed to wear excessive and I didnt get the mileage that I expected. Well less than 18k and I was 90 percent hwy.

DWs also have a soft sidewall which you can feel at cornering speeds and hwy speeds.

I never switched from Michelin on my RS6 and now that the PSS is out that is the tire I have on everything. For the 200 dollar difference I would choose the Michelin PSS and NOT buy the road hazard. The PSS have a uniform inner tread block and will resist wearing and cupping due to our front camber setting. I know they will last longer which more than makes up for the 200 dollar entry cost difference. IMHO

If you have to have DWS's, here is a photo of some Conti's AFTER the car was pulled from the Autocross due to a large chunk of rubber missing, not to say that the OP will be doing Autocross (car was a 2011 BMW 328i with 1500 miles on it)
This is from the Michelin PSS launch at California Speedway in Fontana, CA

Awesome replies guys. Thanks so much. I'll see if I can get my wife to buy off on getting the Super Sports!

The Super Sports are a 30k mile tire with dual compound and "Twaron" to keep the contact patch flat and not ballooning out like dragster tires at high speed.
If you thought the PS2's where good, these are better!
