...this is why they have such a bad reputation over here...
set fire after a brutal murder of a woman. car is stolen from cardealer, and had gps tracking fitted, but lost signal after some minutes...
car has been discussed in detail in a popular crime broadcast, every month or so one is linked to a crime

Do they have similar bad reputation in the US?

Soooo, the CAR has a bad reputation because it was/is used by criminals? Interesting.

I am starting to understand some of the socialist nature in parts of Europe now. Putting blame on a device and not the person is utterly ridiculous. If there was no such thing as an RS6, or all of Audi for that matter, would these criminals stop committing crimes?

No. They would use a different vehicle. Then I suppose that would be to blame. But oh no, don't blame the person who decided to do this! Stupid.

I am sorry for sounding like a bit of a jerk, but people need to have just an ounce of sense in them. It's the same with guns. Take the guns away, and these lunatic criminals will find a different way to commit the crime.

Well all the high end euro sedans have been popular with mafia and the sort. Right

Layer Cake. All the drug dealer wannabe's have seen that movie.

I bet you dont have this sort of problem in Switzerland. Hitler didnt invade for a simple reason.

Compare and contrast crime rates to England with strict gun laws and even Mexico with even stricter gun laws. I will never step foot in Mexico and I live 100 miles from the border. Ditto for England

^ i dont think anyone is blaming the car, it just has a reputation. For example in Countries with bad economy that dont have middle class, seeing an expensive car, is associated with mafia/criminal/etc. because to get a car like that, most likely that person broke the law or did something illegal. And im just speaking in general, i dont know how expensive the c5 rs6 is in Europe , but when you see a brand Mercedes s class roll in a little town of Russia, you would suspect that person as a criminal/mafia.not saying everyone driving new Mercedes in Russia is mafia, but it just has that reputation.

I would tend to agree with this assumption. We are not to that point in the US but I suspect it will come some day. Taxes and inflation are hitting hard and your money in the bank is worthless.

If I purchased a new S8 tomorrow. I would be hit with no less than 15,000 dollars of Arizona taxes. That is on top of all the taxes and fees that went into the sticker price of that vehicle. All that money out the window for crappy roads, skyrocketing crime, 30% of the cars on the AZ roads dont even have insurance ect, ect. I can choose to buy that same vehicle in Oregon where we have our other house and pay zero taxes. I may do it some day but not while we live in AZ. Way too nice a vehicle to drive on AZ roads. You are asking for trouble unless you stay in Scottsdale and never leave.

My RS6s have some image impact and people generally think they are near new but for the most part the public think of it as a yuppie car that costs 40k like the A4 stampede. When I tell coworkers they are 10 years old and cost 90k back in the day they are shocked. No clue at all and I have stopped telling anyone how much these cost.

In Sweden S and RS models by Audi is very popular in this sector, they often get stolen and a couple of weeks later they show up as a getaway car used at a crime.

I wouldn't say they have a bad reputation, but they sure get stopped more often by the police in the dark hours to be checked for this reason.

Yes. We are definitely not at this point in the US. Here when we see someone drive a high end car we assume that person is well educated and successful.

BUT, if you're gonna commit a crime...you might as well have a fast getaway car with some storage...

Yes, the educated and successful look at someone driving a high end car and think that in the US.

I will also say that we have a growing poverty class in this country that look at someone who drives a high end car and thinks. That rich SOB needs to pay more taxes so that I can get x,y or z. Interesting to see where it all shakes out in 20 years.

So are you saying that the problems in this country that you outlined earlier are due to the "entitlement" class sucking the country dry? That is what I am gathering from what you have stated previously. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Not to get political but I would say that yes....and how do you think Obama got reelected? Try to tell me the Obama phone and other bs like that had nothing to do with it! Oh yeah and the 'white capitalist pig' that was running against him didn't make many point with the poor. If paying taxes and or having a job was a requirement for voting then we would have a different president.

Well I won't get political here either but that seems like a very oversimplified view of things.

Clearly, the top is being sucked dry by everyone else...

And as for the "Obama phone," it's an extension of the FCC Lifeline program that was created in 1985. Remember who was president in 1985? That's right, our good buddy Ronald Reagan. They've been subsidizing landline phones since then but no one cared until Obama took office in 2008. Do you know when they started offering the same assistance to cell phone plans? 2005. Do we remember who was president in 2005?

But hey, don't let facts get in the way of a good argument.

Not really a question of the top getting sucked dry. Top 2% have no problem but we could suck the top 2% dry and not make a dent in anything. Yet media continue to bang that drum.

And its also not a question of the poor getting handouts. URS6 I'm actually more liberal than most think.

The middle class is getting wiped out by taxes and fees. As a result, the "middle class" income level is rising but people have no more money in the bank. The poor are just screwed even worse such that if the government stopped handing out goodies we would have a civil war on our hands. We have civil war in some big cities going on today but media wont cover it. Give them all some pot and everything will be ok.

We all land somewhere in the middle to upper portions of most demographics. For us there is no better place to live but we have to watch spending like a hawk and I will not drive a flashy car or pay extra taxes for something new or flashy. Even my 8yr old AMG was alittle too much down here in AZ. The RS is completely under the radar and looks plain jane.

BTW I'm actually a fan of "Obamacare". :) I have made a small bundle of cash because of it. So let him be the king if it means we keep the poor from riots in the streets and the FED printing money. haha

The RS bunch of cars are great for getaways, the Avant even better as you can stash more cash and...apparently and unfortunately...dead people.

A few years back, this same thing happened in Mexico (Ciudad Jarez if I am not mistaken) where the "alledged criminals" loaded up several hundred pounds of Weed into a C6 RS6 Avant and there was a police chase and the criminals were caught and the RS6 suffered greatly and I wonder how long I can have this run-on-sentence go on and on....

I ask this becuse I leave in Mexico and never heard of that case :S
I know that Narco here in Guadalajara steals pick-up trucks, SUVs (Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Dodge, Toyota, etc), Minivans for themselves and some unlucky cars such as VW jetta and Nissan sentra to be disasembled and sold by parts. So if you come to Mexico do not drive the before mentioned cars if you want to stay away from trouble! Also, narco people uses pick-up trucks, suvs and some old model luxury cars as their daily drivers! (Not late model luxury cars as in other countries!)
And of course, if you drive by with an expensive car, you will be a temptation for the kidnappers! Thats why I dont get to use my C6 so often... only 13k kilometers in it since 2010.
