+1 If you don't make your living using them, HF is fine.

Wouldn't touch anything form Harbor Freight with a long Stick. This is what I use on my Struts (Strut Compressor). I've had this thing for quite some time now. So I don't remember where I got it from or how much it cost. It's made by BR tools. It's much safer and easier to use than a Spring Compressor. Remember, what ever Spring Compressor you use be very careful. They are extremely dangerous, because they store quite a bit of energy under compression..................

I still have the DRC, so the shocks can't be disconnected when removing the springs. Not much space in there at all, that's why I'm asking what has been used to get the job done in the past...

i bought mine at autozone or advanced auto...one of the two. they are basically a piece of all thread (but better) with a hook on each side that when you tighten the bolt on one side it draws the lower hook upwards towards the stationary hook/bolt. works like a charm you just have to make sure to tighten each side evenly to keep the compressor from walking in a circle and meeting in the middle (bad). other option is to see if you can either rent or borrow a profession spring compressor (since they cost like 250-500 dollars).

both will work and compress the springs still on the struts and still mounted on the car. side note make sure if you get a set like in my autozone link that they have the locking pins in them.
