View Full Version : Mechanic's question - threaded inserts

Pulled the motor on the beast and doing the timing belt. Found the tensioner pulley bolt to have a threaded insert as it came out of the block when I took the bolt out. Fastenal had the same type thread insert but I have no idea how to install (neither did the Fastenal guy). Any help would be appreciated!

Interesting. I guess previous owner or his mechanic didnt have a torque wrench...

A lot of work done to the car....lots of good, but I guess this is "collateral damage". Thread insert is in with some Blue Loctite. Next is timing the beast.

I used them a lot...MUCH better than a helicoil...especially in a spark plug hole...
