Well that's interesting. Different drill pattern, more holes, arrow pattern. These are zimmermans. I wonder which is better? I want to call them up and see why they send oe style instead of oem rotors with that pn.

^Yep- Rears

I didn't relaize they would be zimmers and have no experience with them. It will probably be a while b4 I put them on- I wanted a spare set to keep on hand as my current ones are relatively new and in good shape.

German Auto Parts responded to my inquiry. They responded promptly and offered to accept a return if requested. I appreciate their prompt response.

I will give the Zimmers a shot. They seem to have a very good reputation from my very limited research.

German Auto Parts responded to the OEM issue in part with the following:

I guess for clarification, when we state "OriginalEquipment" we are referring to a OEM for Audi Vw, and not
what we deem "Genuine" which is a rotor directly from a Audi/Vw.

With a OEM part there is a noticeable difference in price since we purchase these direct from the manufacturer
rather then a dealership who pays a higher fee for packaging and labeling of the parts (like the Audi rings for
example).

Interesting. I wonder how much much they are through Gary, just PM'ed him about it.

So veeeeeeeeery eenterestink. So I jumped on this GermanAutoParts offer, in an effort to arbitrage the euro, and received my front rotors today, delivered for $325 each. L/H is OEM with all of the proper Audi OEM marks, and the R/H is unmarked, in the same type box, and the same blue plastic wrap. I have not unwrapped them (they will be sitting on a shelf for a while) but they seem to be identical. I have no decent weight or dimensional measuring devices currently, but I do occasionally have access to them. When this opportunity occurs I will take these measurements just for yuks if anything. One thing for certain: these are the biggest a$$ rotors I have ever purchased........much less held in my hands!!!!

Good thing I have two full sets of spares out back. I'm set for 10 yrs or so.

I am almost wishing I would have just ponied up for hats and rotors from the companies mentioned previously. Audi absolutely sucks when it comes to supporting their vehicles - even flag ship models. Our cars are ten years old. On Audi's radar, we are barely a blip, and heading towards a false signal. Hats and custom rotors are where it will be. Soon.

I have just recently purchased 2Bennet fully Floating 2 piece Rotors, Pagid Black Pads, Stainless Steel Lines and Pentosin Fluid. When I receive and install them I will give My impressions on this setup. I was going for a C6 or a Loba BB setup but I could not justify a near $5000.00 Tag. Especially since I am not Tracking the car anyway....................................

Look at the bolt pattern too. That is a one size fits all pattern. Interesting.

Ken at 2Bennet said that Brembo makes the Rotors for them. These are what they run on their Track car ( That's what I like, Tried and Proven) and Claim they work very well. With the fully floating rotors and pagid pads he claims minimal to no noise or squealing and low Brake dust. I'll report on that after I install........................

The drill pattern comment was my brain farting. The rear drill pattern is different than the front, on OEM at least.

It looks like the drill pattern is the same. Are the cooling vanes straight or curved on the 2Bennett?

They appear to be straight. There is no right or left Rotor, even though the Hole pattern is unidirectional. We'll have to see how that goes. Anyway moving right along, the Pagids gave me a hard time to install. The Anti-squeal plates made it awfully difficult to fit the Pads. I had to actually Grind of the ends of the Plates to make the pads fit. Got them installed now. Just have to determine the best Bedding procedure. Don't feel like doing 100mph just to get nailed, so I'll wait till later on.......

Elevens
February 20th, 2013, 06:38
So far so good. Initial cold bite is excellent. No need for warm up. Did a few Stops from 100mph, very little to no Fade at all. No Vibrations at all. No Squeals or Sqeaks, completely Silent. Probably due to the True Fully Floating nature of the Rotor and the Pagid Black Pads. All in All I am quite happy with the purchase so far. More Expensive, but seem to be well worth it. How they perform at the Track, I can't say. But the boys at 2Bennett use the same rotors to race with but use a different pad. For a Street setup this is way more than adequate and will definitely stop you in a hurry. Still watching the Dust situation, but so far it seems to be quite Minimal........

I got the JHM ones and overall I am very happy as well. The previous owner had the EBC redstuff. I hated those pads. I went with the stoptech pads and these rotors. Not only is the dust very low, there is no vibration and the responsiveness seems good.

Good to hear about the JHM and Stoptech pads. I was going to try those pads next. No fade from super hard stops from say 90+?

I cant say that I have tried a stop from 90+. I live in the Bay Area, CA, getting to 90 is challenging enough. Braking from that would cause a pileup of enormous proportions. Stay tuned to your favorite news channel tonight. ;)

In all seriousness I got the street pad. There was a pad they offered that was one level up that might be better if you are concerned about brake fade. I do occasional twisties so the street pad was fine for me.

That is the same rotor that is listed as a rotor for a Volkswagen Passat in some cases.

I see varying specs:

Your outer diameter is 320MM
The OEM rotor size is 365mm

Your rotor thickness is 29.9mm
OEM Rotor thickness is 34.0

I *think* the correct Wagner PN you wanted was BD180229 and BD180230. Lets hope you are getting what you think you are. Keep us posted as to what is delivered and how it fits.

Then again they could blame you for not doing your homework and grant you a refund. That is before they deduct the amount for you shipping them back to them and maybe even a restocking fee. Them giving you $1000 in free rotors (Rock Auto charges 510 for each of those part #'s I listed above) I see highly unlikely. No matter how good they want their customer service to be.
