Hello everyone, might be a bit late, but I wish you all a happy new year ahead! I'm not sure if any still remember me : ) but I used to be an active member with C5 RS6. Since i sold it, I feel sad and regret it, and now with the price of the C6 is dropped with many good deals around, I feel there is a good chance to back again and get a beast again!! I miss that feeling!!

The options I have now is, either used 2009 RS6 Sedan or a brand new RS4 Avant! I'm trying to covince myself with the RS6 and save the money. The deals I have for used RS6 C6 almost arounf half the price for the brand new B8 RS4, considering the power only! I think RS6 wins!

Please let me know your thoughts

C6 RS6 all day, every day over a B8 RS4 IMO. Not even close.

Welcome back BTW

Go for the RS6, the only drawback, and I mean the only drawback is the fuel economy...but then you are in the UAE so that is not a problem as your price of fuel is much lower then the rest of us pay. You may not have the cheapest prices in the region but still less than most of the rest of the world pays.

Thank you Fonzie :) I thought the same also, but I was just worried about the running cost and if out of warranty. I had a big lose and paid a lot in the C5 RS6 after warranty expired. That is the only reason I'm thinking to go for a brand new, so no headache. I know that C6 RS6 is much more reliable than C5, at least no DRC drama anymore, but I'm not sure since i never used if any known issues with the C6.

What is the avg fuel consumption for the C6? Is it that much? how many L/100km avg rate? Still, fuel cost is not an issue at all here :)

hey man, good to hear that! Definitely you should go for the C6 RS6, i was also tempted to get one and sell the C5, but i am still pretty much in love with it! Found a nice Silver one still under warranty at one of the dealers(Carbon) in Ras Al Khor, however i would rather go for a private seller and with a stock model, though it's really hard here to find an unmodified C6 RS6. If it's modified, i would make sure they're under warranty and that it can be extended, as they running 7-800hp and you know very well how many drags these cars did on Yas Island :), every time i go there there is always a C6 doing drag racing!

BTW - your C5 was recently sold by the one who bought it from you and a friend of mine bought it, checked the car and i was really impressed to find no errors on the gearbox or engine, so who ever rebuilt your tranny was really good :) ! The car is now close to 220k km but it's running strong man, we still need to fix some issues, mostly cosmetically but overall and considering the mileage is still a strong Beast :) ! When we get to Dubai we'll give you a call, i think you have my number!

Fuel consumption (economy) - urban 20.3 l./100 km
Fuel consumption (economy) - extra urban 10.2 l./100 km
Fuel consumption (economy) - combined 13.9 l./100 km

I don't see that very high Fuel consumption for V10!! ... no?

Good day! Let me say that I own both a C5 and a C6, they are great cars, but the C6 is even more powerfull, comfortable and reliable.
My C6 RS6 is a 2010 model, and since the day I bougth it I have had only one problem wich is that 3 leds of the left headlamp did not turn on, so the headlamp was replaced with no cost.
About the fuel consumption, well, I use the car daily in the city with peak hours, as a result the fuel consumption of this car is the worst I have seen: 75 liters of fuel to run arround 220kms...:nana: 2.93Km/L. Of course, driving the car on the higway @ 130km/h constant boosted my milleage to like 650kms per 75L of fuel. BUT the exitement and sensation you feel while leaving a Porsche 911 turbo, Lambo Gallardo or a Mustang Shelby in the dust with a 2ton 4 door sedan is priceless!!:incar:

I also currently have my car with Unitronic Stage 1 @ 660HP (looking to get a 700hp MTM or MRC tune) and have had no problems since then.
About the B8 RS4, it is a nice looking car, but if you want performance and power go for the C6 RS6 (I have a friend with a RS5 2012, same engine as B8 RS4 and even my 10 year old C5 RS6 leaves him behind :addict:)

2.93Km/L.

Woah. That's less than 7 MPG in old money.

That's impressive. I found out recently, to my chagrin, that a C5 RS6 is no match for a naturally aspirated 991 Carrera S. That was a surprise.

Oh man really? Was that from a dig or a roll?

kday
January 18th, 2013, 17:41
It was from a dig, but I didn't do any brake torqueing or anything, and the start was not great. (I don't know if it's only my car or what but if I just mash the gas from a stop, often there is a notable pause before anything urgent happens.) The cars were pretty even up to 30 or 40 as I recall, and then the 911 started pulling away. I think with a manual box this car would be a lot faster off the line and would have held its own longer. But regardless, I was really impressed with what Porsche has wrung out of a naturally aspirated 6. It sounds super mean at full tilt too.

Yep, seems TC needs half a sec to lockup, then warp speed! kday you tuned at all? Its amazing what an extra 75hp and 125tq can do:)

vangelis, sweet pics, thanks! Looks like a bit of the drc is up in the air, you consider swapping out to level and firm the ride?

I don't think it's related to the lockup part of the torque converter -- that shouldn't come into play until steady state cruising. If anything the torque converter should be helping get off the line, by multiplying torque while slipping. But for whatever reason that doesn't seem to happen. Maybe it's ECU programming. I don't have a lot of experience with automatics but I know how to launch a manual quattro and I'm pretty sure that would be faster.

My car is not tuned. I have a MTM ECU sitting on a shelf but until now haven't been motivated to install it.

i seem to get to around 1500 rpm before the car really moves, assumption is its the tc building tq and that tq transitions down the driveline causing the initial lag?
