Hi guys and girls, I'm sick and tired of my cd-changer issues, and I'm thinking of upgrading to the RNS-E.

Is this something you would recomend?

Is there any chance getting a new 6CD changer to fit aswell? If so, could you link me up?

Cheers a bunch,

Primo.

I have the RSN-E and I say yes :) Go for it esp if you prefer the OEM look as IMHO after market doesn't suit the c5!

I'd love to upgrade it, but I want my cd-changer issues to go away and stay gone!! :)

get the RNS-E, IMHO it was one of the best mods i did on the RS, i love the sound system in a car and if this is not good enough i won't keep the car for too long, the improvement the RNS-E did on my car definitely worth the money...i have recently bought a Phaeton, these cars really have a great sound system :), actually the whole car is kind of great, totally different than the RS, but great cars!

This one is much better because its an 2010 Audi A3 RNS-E(newer) with a A6 front(wider), you can see that because of the darker displaysurroundings.

Yeah it's kinda glossy, isn't it?

What about the 6CD changer?

Yes, its called Piano-black, you can use the changer, but you don't need it anymore because of the 2 SDHC-Card 32GB slots..

I have this exact one (glossy framed RNS-E).
My OEM 6 disc CD changer was on the fritz AND the opportunity to purchase presented itself.

Make sure you get the harness that has the ability to add the BlueTooth module.

The OEM 6 disc will be no longer useful once you get the RNS-E

Hmmm mine is ;)

I have an RNS-E in the car already, but I just purchased an upgraded unit from Zawa. You might check in with him.

I did sacrifice the CD changer in the original upgrade, but the NAV alone is worth the trade-off. I also have a Dice iPod player and, of course, the XM module. So, to lose the CD changer wasn't a great loss.

I'm afraid you're right. I'm looking to get internet in the car, so I can use Spotify on my fancy iPad. ;)

Who needs CD's when you can have 64GB on two SD cards? I have mine filled to about 24GB each (classic and modern), and there is some of that I will probably never listen to. I could hit random play - another thing CD's do not do well - and probably hear the same song thrice on a coast to coast drive.

The SD cards were my primary reason for going RNS-E. Getting an eight year update on the electronics was #2. Since I generally know where I am going, the NAV map just makes the dashboard look pretty.

Only thing missing is bluetooth for the phone, which will be taken care of soon, especially since Mr. Washington State Trooper gave me a break (discount) about two months ago.

After seeing Mark's RNS-E with the Bluetooth module in it, it is a no brainer... but I do like Chung's (Ryan's) method also

So Ben, when are we doing your Bluetooth?

Primo

Why bother with SD cards? MP3's are so 1999! :P

I'd rather use Spotify in the car, so I can search for new artists, songs and genres whenever I feel like it. I don't wanna look for a certain song among 15.000 songs, if you know what I mean.
This way the bluetooth function will come in handy.

Btw, I've already scheduled the upgrade in mid january, can't wait!!! :D

You cannot stream music to the RNS E via Bluetooth, it only works for making calls, however, there is a guy on RS246 that has come up with a solution to allow you to do it.

http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=98653

I use Spotify all the time in my company car, it is brill. In the RS 6, I use SD cards or one of them FM transmitter jobbies to stream Spotify to my radio.

Soon!

But I have to get:
1. Bluetooth Module
2. New RNS-E harness from Zawa.

You will also need the small Bluetooth antenna that plugs into but doesn't come with the module and the Bluetooth/Onstar coversion plug & Harness. I'll see if I can find a supplier. For those looking for a new RNS-E there is a new player on the block, actually not a new player, just that they are also selling the new units for the C5's now.

I have been through the coding on the new unit I bought to replace my old one and I think the coding is the same, so the harness is most likely the same, I could always check the pins. So once again, the faceplate is the key.
Edit: Here you go, all the parts you would need for the RNS-E: http://euro-parts.us/

Dont buy a Kufatec, buy an mObridge, ist much better.

I'm only talking about the wiring harness adapter along with a OEM Bluetooth module, I would try to go OEM before going aftermarket as the OEM works well. I have a Mobridge in my Cayenne and it is pretty good but the OEM Audi Bluetooth module along with an RNS-E is a better, and much more reliable system than the Porsche PCM with or without the Mobridge. I'm always swearing at Porsche for the damn PCM (Porsche Communications Management), wondering why they couldn't have followed Audi's lead. The RNS-E is made by Aisin in Japan and the PCM is made by Harmann/Becker in Germany, PCM is junk.

It looks to be identical pretty much to the OEM setup except it does have Bluetooth streaming function from your cell phone which would be handy, and most newer smart cell phones do have the capability to stream music while being synced for Bluetooth cell usage too.

Thanks for all your epic replies, ladies and gentlemen. I've ordered this one: http://www.finn.no/finn/torget/tilsalgs/annonse?finnkode=31231866&kwUnica=rns-e (It's on Norwegian, but I guess you understand most of it...)

Without the piano black glossy finish, but I'm sure it's gonna look stunning anyway! Their even installing it without any more cost, so it's a great deal for me, as I don't wanna screw up anything myself! :D

Happy new year to all of you chaps'n'lasses! :)

congrats, you're gonna love it :) ! Is the unit new? the price seems to be, according to xe.com, cca. 1000EUR, which is expensive if it's used, i've paid for mine, used from ebay.de cca 600Eur including shipping!

Primo

It says used, but it's completely new. (The website claims more percentage for the adverts if it's marked as "new".)

It's a dealership ordering directly from the manufacturer, so it's brand new! :)

Mark, this is probably the best/ideal route for me to go.
The only concern is the harness to the existing harness = possible lots of cable splices.
I need to contact Zawa about a new RNS-E harness with 4 connectors versus the 3 I have now.

I am looking up the Apple iPhone 4S tech specs and can't find squat about A2DP or AVRCP specs on it! Anyone got answers on this one?
