My check engine light came on and hooked up the Vagcom and this is the reading.

17863 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 (G235)
P1455 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
17831 - Secondary Air Injection System; Bank 1
P1423 - 002 - Insufficient Flow - Intermittent - MIL ON
16840 - EVAP System
P0456 - 002 - Very Small Leak Detected - Intermittent

Replace the transmission....

On second thought, clear the codes, put some good gas in it and run it. EGT sensor is the only one of those codes that means any $$.

Check your gas cap that there are no leaks, gaps and that it is on tight.
Check the filter assembly (that big hunk o' carbon in the engine bay) that it is seated properly on the MAF's

How is the car running?
Good? Bad? rough? wha????

Can is running fine, not rough or bad or anything. Gas cap doesn't have any leaks and is tight.

I've cleared the codes twice, and they come back within a day or two, so I think they are real issues.

Where is the big hunk of carbon?

How many exhaust gas temp sensors are there? Are they expensive?

You won't want to hear this. There are two EGT sensors, and each is not horribly expensive, but to replace them you have to pull the engine. The labor costs will be the killer. If you have to go that route, replace your O2 sensors as well as both of the EGT sensors irrespective of which is bad. Those of us who have had to rebuild the transmission usually replace these at the same time.

The CEL is only due to this error 17831

The others are intermittent so the best way to trouble shoot those for now is to reset the codes and see what comes back.

I have had intermittent EGT codes since I owned my car with no ill effects.

16840 - EVAP System
Thhis could be a bad N80 or just a hose leaking.

Is bank 1 right or left side facing the motor?

I had the evap once, went away after a week. Try checking codes after a day of driving, see what comes up first. Egts are a pain to get to, do they regulate performance or just shutdown engine when things get hot?, not that i would recommend driving without them...
