Hello all,

As many know the newer cars have more things you can modify with VAG-COM...

Some are interesting, some not so much.

So far I did the usual things such as turn on 'remote control of windows,' and disable the 'winking' DTR lights.

The interesting one is the Lap Timer which apparently has been around for several model years. I have to take a peak at my RS6 later to see if that exists in that model year.

The interesting part of the lap timer is not the lap timer though! It brings up a Boost Gauge, an engine temperature numeric display and a upshift warning bar (green, then yellow, then red) as well as the smaller version of the digital speedometer.

I also peaked at the level control and found these settings.

UDS Adaptation Channel: Body height left rear wheel house edge
Stored value 416.30 mm

UDS Adaptation Channel: Body height right rear wheel house edge
Stored value 411.70 mm

UDS Adaptation Channel: Body height left front wheel house edge
Stored value 404.60 mm

It appears that one can lower the A8 air suspension by modifying these settings. I am curious to why the settings are all so different. In the old Allroad 405 Mod, the four corners of the car had the same setting (405 mm), perhaps this car senses and changes based on number of people in the car????

Video in Motion: VIM which allows DVD's or iPhone movies to play while driving, aka cheap rear entertainment system for the kids in the back seat. It's just about as distracting as the map display or the kids screaming in the back seat.

I also disabled the warnings on Nav and telephone. Before you could enter phone numbers and data while driving but only after saying ok to the warning, so that warning is a bit redundant and is gone.

The window remote setting turns on the ability to close the windows and sunroof with the key fob, but also enables a menu in the MMI to choose which you want to be able to OPEN by the remote such as Front Seat windows, Rear, and sunroof. The sunroof setting just lets you tilt the sunroof.

You can also set the display to show which gear the car is in when in S or D mode, just like it does when the Manual mode is turned on.

The needle sweep on start up can be turned on too. I was able to see the RED line range, it actually starts at 4000 rpm (you can see the led's if you look with a flashlight).

I read that the A8 lowers at a speed above 70 mph, if so can this be changed via Vag-Com?

"I've been trying to compile a complete list of VCDS mods specific for our S4 cars. I started going through the B8 A4 Cool VAG-COM codes thread but the info is spread over 30 pages and repeats or is trivial. AudiEnthousiasts has also started to put a list together organized by category for the A4. I like his idea but I think there's a need for a straight list of cool VAG-COM mods specific to our S4 and a detail how-to consice in one document.
