It was about a 170lb doe. Preliminarily, it looks like hood, fenders, bumper, headlights, radiator, condenser, steering fluid cooler line, under tray, grills, core support, cooling fans, and some other bits. Couldn't get the hood open yet to see under. I did peek under the now creased hood, and it looks like no huge damage. The car was still running after the hit, with one of the cooling fans making a little noise.

Bummer.

Dang!!!! Glad u okay- Jeez- I often say- the drive home from the track (through deer country) late at night is the most scary part of the adventure.

I wish you a speedy repair.

Not an ideal way to bag a doe. Glad you are OK!

Here come the vulchers... Can I pick those headlights off you for cheap when the time comes? might be interested in a few other bits. Hit me up with PM when you have time.

Thanks guys. I guess that's why we pay big insurance premiums!

alrightroad, in the 3rd pic you can see the headlight lens is busted up pretty good. Drivers side isn't, but felt very loose in its place. Makes me think the mounting tabs are all broke. I'll sell if you really want.

Bummer, now starts the search for a good hood....went through 6 of them from Audi before we found a straight one. seems if they are stored on their sides the alu edges get bent up pretty good.

Sorry about the wreck...

Glad you are ok and the car should survive, too.

Enjoy the deer steaks, jerkey, etc. Saved you the cost of a hunting license, ammo, etc.

haha. I didn't keep it. So this old guy pulls up in the dodge and says that he called the sheriffs department and that they said he can take it, if it was ok with me. I said I didn't want it. I don't want bruised up venison. But seriously, old guy shows up 15 mins after it happened. I hadn't even called the sheriffs yet! I think he probably needs it more than me.

Thanks Greg. I know! I've been thinking about that belly pan. Glad I'm getting a new one. Will be hard to chop up though. I won't need to make that mod til next spring, so it will stay as is for now.

Nope. No airbags. The front bumper stayed remarkably intact. It's cracked and scratched a little, but really doesn't look as if it moved much if any.

Bummer about the hunting accident but the bright side is that you get new stuff!
Hopefully you DIDN'T order the carbon lip, otherwise that would have been toasted.

Especially since the airbags didn't trip and the engine was still able to run, you should relatively in good shape.

Started getting a paranoid tonight. If its 10-12k in repairs, we're talking about the possibility of totaling the car. NADA says about 15k trade in and that's what insurance companies usually use to calculate. They will usually deceide to total when damages are 70-75%.

We will see.

I didn't want to say anything but that was my first thought. Depends on the internal damage.

i guess you could always get the maximum they would pay and come up with the rest of the money from your own pocket, if you really love it :), or have it repaired at an independent garage with OEM parts but you would pay a lot less for the labor and doing so the amount paid by the insurer might be sufficient, because we all know that only the labor will be highly expensive at the dealer!

I heard back from the body shop. He is up to almost 14k in repairs. That is still not including, but leaving open, the radiator and fans. He said its at 57% of value according to his system? That would put the insurance value well over 20k.

He is familiar with my insurance co and said they stop at 70% and total it. Of course he is using all list prices. The adjuster is coming to look at it.

I think "speedtrapped (http://www.rs6.com/member.php/15862-speedtrapped)" from NJ has an engine including ECU he's been trying to sell for several months... Maybe he'd be willing to sell/swap ECU's until you get a new RS6----IF your's is totaled, of course?????

Would there need to be some programming with the key/immobilizer?
From this Ross-Tech link, it appears straight forward---EXCEPT for the required 4 digit ecu PIN #... Probably attainable thru the dealer's higher echelon VAG-COM??? Just guessing on this one.

I don't think you can realistically reprogram the immobilizer with VCDS. But it is possible through more invasive means.

Hehe. I see what you did there.

I spoke with the adjuster today. They're not totaling it. The jnsurance company was about 3k lower to fix than the shop said. Adjuster found headlights for 1k used, hood and fenders off another one that saved 450, used ac condenser 600 less.

Not sure if I like not getting new parts, but the shop I'm working with has an excellent warranty that they stand behind well. If they think I won't like it (and they know how particular I am) they will fight to get it.

Well. I will be waiting quite a while to get my car. As mentioned earlier, the core support won't arrive until late December. The shop estimates a late January finish date. As promised , below are a few pics.

these were taken the day after the hit, after they were able to get the hood opened. There is no damage to any part of the engine. Nothing even touched it which surprised me. The air intake ducts are even intact.
