View Full Version : RS6 - 2:nd hand market in Germany - no sports options?

A friend of mine is looking to upgrade his RS4 into an RS6 as the winter comes closer. In the spring time he's looking to get an M3 CSL instead. :incar:

In any case, he said he had scanned the market in Germany (to import one into Sweden) and found enough to make him happy.
BUT - he could not find any cars with the upgraded brakes not the sports exhaust.

Is this true? And in such case why?

Looking forward to a reply from our german specialists... :addict:

There are several cars available which have been tuned and have the sports exhaust and better brakes, but they are at the expensive end of what is available.
Mostly the enthusiasts who bought the cars are hanging on to them for the winter, so not many 'sporty' ones avaiable right now.

Better not change to the E55 when the snow arrives... :MTM:

Maybe I should clearify, the guy is looking for a stock RS6
with the sports exhaust and 'better' ;) brakes.

Doesn't mean these parts can't be dealer fit. :)

By better brakes I suppose you mean "Drilled Discs"

If I am not mistaken, The sport exhaust was only introduced earlier this year whereas the RS6 was launched in 2002.

Also, it could be that the drilled discs were not available on the earlier cars.

The above could explain why your friend cannot find these options on used RS6's.

Another option would be for your friend to get the Milltek exhaust system, but it is an aftermarket part.

Yes, I mean the drilled disks.

I know that sports options were introduced later, but they should have been available for a sufficient time I think.

To retrofit anything is not an option, the car should be 100% stock.

I can assure you that the Sports Exhaust and the drilled rotors WERE available in 2002, there was a delay with the suspension upgrade, which remains problematical.

If the quattro GmbH parts are fitted by a dealer, where is the problem?

Higher price. Otherwise no problem.

The brakes aren't worth it, and the exhaust is just for show.

So no problemo!

Honestly, if this level of cost is a concern, perhaps some other car might be more suitable. Afterall, the gas bill alone is enough to wipe out the economy of the average TPLAC!

I'm not the one setting the demands in this case...it's just what he wanted to get for himself. Probably including reale possibility in Schweden.

Personally, I'd go for the exhaust (unless I'd tune it) but the brakes no.

But my friend is looking to buy one, keep it and sell it within a few months until the CSL.

And if it's tuned (with TÜV) certificate it can't be imported into Sweden and also resale value will be lower.

The price of the car is not the concern, but changing stuff for a few month's driving is not worth it when there should be 2:nd hand cars with these options from the start (that was the idea anyway  )
