This would be my first "nice" car. Both AWD and automatic trans. Any opinions? (first post)

Personally, love the looks of the C5 the best. 07 S6 probably a lot less maintenance but about 5-6k more.

In regards to the RS6, to quote papadoc (another RS6.com contributor), "[I] can't think of any car under $100k I'd rather drive." This is definitely how I feel about mine. Get in the drivers seat of both and go with your gut.

Best of luck and keep us posted!

i would go for the S6....the V10, even if only 435hp NA, is a sweet engine and i am sure it's a blast to drive it. In terms of acceleration the RS6 C5 is quicker, lighter but the C6 is newer, more gadgets a much better(stronger) gearbox but not too many ways of increasing the power being a NA! Drive them both and see how feel inside of each of them! I went for the RS6 C5 firstly because it was a dream car for me and secondly i couldn't find an S6 here, but i have enjoyed it ever since i bought it and still will for some time from now on, despite of its well known problems!

Be careful of the V10s willingness to grenade itself for no good reason...

The 4.2 is agreat engine and one of Ward's best....(comments reserved on the trannys tho)

What about the S6 V10 but get a twin turbo system down the road?

I briefly debated these two vehicles before I decided on the C5 RS. It basically came down to the S6 not being worth it. To me, the RS does almost everything better: more power, more torque (and better torque curve), better gas mileage, looks better, engine seems more stout, responds much better to tuning/chipping, etc. The only advantages I can see the C6 S6 having over the C5 RS6 are the transmission and exhaust sound.

I noticed the ECU tuning also. GIAC makes an RS6 chip with 515-525 HP. While a tuned S6 only produces 445-450 which is the stock RS6. The RS6 has a lot more aftermarket tuning.

I consider these two and drove them back to back at the dealership. I thought the S6 had a harsher ride and pulled a little less (torque) than the C5; all subjective of course. I like the looks of our C5 much more. Drive 'm both and pick the one that makes you smile the most. YMMV, Jim

That would be a C6 RS6... that the US/CA didn't received BUT MX did...

Buy a C5 with a blown trans, and put a 6 speed in it.

Always an option, but I might have trouble finding one.

Just did, I made my account yesterday.
Would you advise a C6 S6 V10 with twin turbo's? Maybe Holset HX35s?

Adding turbos to a C6 would be a financial and logistical nightmare. Better off paying off customs and importing a real C6 RS6.

I don't think you would have to wait too long for a C5 to blow a trans haha..

How much would you estimate it would cost?
Or a single GT40R?

I think you could buy a used Nissan GT-R for less than it would cost to buy and turbocharge a C6 S6....

Just sayin'...

I would buy the S6 and in a few years get the turbo(s).
It would not all be one large transaction.

Just skip that idea man. I would estimate 50-90k easy plus cost of the car. You're talking about custom stand-alone engine management, custom fab, and somehow making it integrate into the OEM CANBUS.. aka nightmare. Would probably never be fully integrated.

It would be cheaper to rent a villa in Mexico and register a real RS6 there and drive it across the boarder.

A possibility would be to contact Heffner or someone who makes TT systems for Gallardos. packaging will be your enemy..

Ive been thinking about this same question as Hulio, difference is i already have a RS6 and wondering what my next car will be once my warranty runs out!!! I'm leaning towards the V10 S6, new generation S and RS out of my price range. I think the S6 would be more refined but would have to take a cut in power, but could always chip/ecu upgrade to bring it up to RS level.

between the C7 S6 and C6 S6 there is no doubt which one to get, definitely the C7 without any regrets :), the only doubts would be when trying to choose between C5 RS6 and C6 S6...

It all comes down to what you want. C6 S6 is more modern but sluggish. C5 RS6 is faster but lacks in modern innovation. The RS6 also has a much larger aftermarket parts list and this includes much better ECU tuning. The problem is that I want the C6 looks but C5 power...

For personal reasons I would like to wait until next March/April to buy a car. Your offer has everything that I would have done, already done to the car. If your offer is still available then, I will seriously consider it.
Thanks

I'd buy the RS6 over the S6 any day. But everyone's different, and the choice is finally yours! :)

I purchased a 2007 S6 with full intentions of TT it. I found that you may start off with a current TT kit made for the Gallardo, but you will spend more $$ having it modified for use in the S6. $45k for a 1000hp kit and double that for 1500+ ( its only money right )

I also found that after driving the V10, I've not found myself wanting more power. Yes, it has less power than the RS6, it just feels more refined.

As other have said, test drive both back to back, get what YOU want.

As for the V10 imploding, I haven't found any examples of an S6 having a problem. I have found many a Gallardo though.. < wink >

Wow thanks that was a great post. Currently I like the idea of an S5 with rotex supercharger kit. I found an S5 for 16k and the kit is 13k. Pretty fast too. 600HP and 0-60 in 3.5

RS6 faster and very nice tuned, but S6 2006 more comfortably. Thus engine of S6 the very problem. Acquaintances already changed on a warranty 2 times.

RS6 C5 approximately 630 HP. And 750 Hp RS6 C6 overtook this after 120-125 mph.
