B-Pillar Alarm Speaker?

I just realized that a static buzz is coming from the little speaker in the passenger-side b-pillar. I have had an after market head unit for a while with no noise, and it just started. Any idea of what this speaker does? I can't imagine it is tied into my head unit? Why would it just start buzzing? I have OnStar...is it tied in with that? Car didn't have a navigation system?

Isn't is for the cell phone option that came with some cars?

All of the C5 RS6 have that odd speaker.
All of the C5 RS6 have wiring in the center console for the phone addition (meaning very old school phone)

Mine just started doing this as well and "popping" on power down. Monty did you figure this out?

Actually, it just stopped doing it after i posted about it. No idea why!
