Debating on picking up an 01E Allroad and cannibalizing it for the tranny and then swapping my RS6 autobox into that for a daily driver...it this possible?

I think the allroad has a different final drive ratio, so this would get complicated, since (unless you want to go RWD or make a really weird drift car :) ) the transaxle and rear diff need to match.

Ah, for some reason, I thought the allroad was 4.11 final ratio. Just found is it 4.375...dam.
