Very strange IMHO.
Maybe 280 hp for the lighter 3-door and 300 hp for the 5-door sportback. ???

could be...but 300hp is a bit closer to bmw 1f20 m135i with 320hp...and it's not the max level (I'm sure bmw will build the successor of 1m vs next RS3)

The baffling thing is this, when has Audi ever released two different power outputs on the same model regardless of the number of doors or body shape or released them at the same time?
I think it's one or the other not both and if the Golf R gets 280hp then the S3 will be offered in the higher 300hp to give it the class separation it deserves and compete with the M135i.

Two different power options is strange, but even 280 bhp is going to be seriously quick, especially in a lightened A3 platform.
