I'm going to do a 1/4 mile drag for the first time later. I'll do one of the runs using 'duck foot rat', I've done a search and it came back with this great explanation from V8 Weight.
The magic number is three. Hold left foot on brake, rev, let off. Rev again, let off. Rev again and hold, you should notice that on the third time, it will allow you to hold a higher rpm (like 2500). Now smoothly let off the brake as if releasing a clutch and in a sweeping motion smoothly apply liberal amounts of throttle. If you've done it right, your tires will go up in smoke, and your passengers will soil their trousers. This is the "Duck-foot-rat" technique.
I just want to clarify that I understand this correctly.
When you eventually launch after the third brake boost, is it important you don't slam the throttle to the floor? It seems like the logical thing to do? Or should I really smoothly feed the power in?
I've promised myself, I'll only do it the once, so no trial and error for me I'm afraid, hence the thread.
Any info appreciated, I'll come back with my results. :addict:
